Weekly Standard parodies controversial New Yorker cover

Detroit News editorial cartoonist Henry Payne has done a parody version of the controversial New Yorker cover which will appear on the back page of The Weekly Standard magazine's July 28 issue.
Payne draws Barack Obama walking on water with doves flying all around him. The caption reads "Special Repentance Issue! (We are really, really, really sorry)"
"I think a point that's being missed is that Blitt's satire has little basis in truth -- the foundation for satire after all," Payne told David Astor in a piece for Editor and Publisher.
"No respectable figure in the GOP, or McCain's campaign, or any editorial publication I know of has suggested Obama is Muslim.... The Obama/Muslim confusion is one of ignorance; a view held by a minority of the electorate, Dems and Republicans alike."
