Something funny happened last week: A liberal Democrat from Chicago, running on a ticket with a liberal from Delaware, won the White House by a comfortable margin. And while Barack Obama did actually win three states in the South, his triumph should do away with the notion that a “Southern strategy” is essential to the Democratic Party’s long-term viability at the presidential level.

Great characterization of the Media. This election would a whole lot saner and thoughtful without the dirt mongers.

While the "media" no doubt deserve reproach when it comes to the coverage of Governor Palin (and of many other items of note), let it not go unsaid what it is that ultimately accounts for the success of the McCain campaign's tactics: namely, that we are a nation devoid of intellectual curiosity, which enables those arguments which are the simplest and least considered to succeed, where those that are more sophisticated and deductive in nature are ignored or discarded.
Occam's Razor has become Goebbels' Bludgeon, as it must in every quasi-Fascist plutocracy, real or imagined.
Oh, and since when does Sarah Palin wear pants?
On voit, alors, on s'engage!
Media tail chasing
Great cartoon that captures the futility of this situation.
The media wouldn't be chasing its tail if it simply stated what's as evident as the sun rising in the east: McCain and Palin are lying.
Andrew Sullivan says without hyperbole that they've told more lies than any presidential-VP candidates in history.
Imagine what they would tell us if they win?
Can't wait to see Rob's never cartoon on the subject.
