
Liu Urges City To Push Projects In The Pipeline, Promises Plan Would Create 15,000 Positions
With his eye on a mayoral race that will play in the backdrop of a city economy still struggling, City Comptroller John Liu announced a plan this morning that he said would create 15,000 jobs by accelerating capital projects already in the pipeline.
“By accelerating projects already in the pipeline the City can jump-start 15,000 jobs – at a time when the construction industry is still struggling and unemployment is stubbornly high, especially among minorities.” Mr. Liu said. “The plan addresses infrastructure challenges such as school overcrowding, deteriorating roads and bridges, and the need for new and better parks.
