The anti-tax group Club for Growth called on President Barack Obama to emulate Gov. Andrew Cuomo and resist calls for higher taxes on upper income earners.
“When even Democrats like Andrew Cuomo oppose raising taxes on millionaires, you know your class warfare rhetoric has failed to resonate,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “Higher taxes like the ones proposed by President Obama will hurt the economy, not help it. We need to move towards a flatter, more pro-growth tax code and we need to encourage investment by cutting taxes on capital gains and dividends. I applaud Andrew Cuomo for recognizing that higher taxes are not the answer.”
Long Island Rep. Peter King appeared on the local Fox affiliate yesterday and slammed President Barack Obama’s Israeli policy as a vote on Palestinian statehood looms at the United Nations General Assembly this week.
“He was the one who suggested some moral equivalency between the Israelis and the Palestinians, the Israelis and the Iranians,” Mr. King said.
This charge is a frequent one lobbied by the right in Mr. Obama’s direction and is a reference for his push to get both sides to come together for an agreement.
Any moment President Obama will deliver a Rose Garden address laying out his vision to reduce the size of the federal deficit through cuts in Medicare and higher taxes on upper income earners.
Afterwards, the president will travel to New York City to attend the U.N.’s General Assembly and to raise money in Manhattan.
