Assemblyman Is ‘Very, Very Sorry’ for Saying ‘Hitler Would Be Proud’ of Cuomo

Republican Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin is officially in damage-control mode after declaring “Hitler would be proud” of Governor Andrew Cuomo for fast-tracking gun control legislation through Albany.

“We were told to shut up and vote and that’s what this is all about,” Mr. McLaughlin said at a press conference today announcing a bill to limit the governor’s ability to issue “messages of necessity” to skip the normal deliberative process. Governor Cuomo has used the technique to pass several controversial bits of legislation including his gun control plan and last year’s infamous “big ugly” flurry of deals on redistricting, pensions, casino gambling, teacher evaluations and a DNA databank for criminals.

“Just don’t question it and vote. That’s basically the message here,” Mr. McLaughlin continued. “If that’s not dictatorial, I don’t know what is. Hitler would be proud, Mussolini would be proud of what we did here, Moscow would be proud, but that’s not democracy.” Read More

Assemblyman Hikind Compares Hagel to Politician Who Appeased Hitler

Assemblyman Dov Hikind is not in the least bit pleased about President Barack Obama nominating former Senator Chuck Hagel to be his new Secretary of Defense.

Mr. Hikind, a prominent pol in Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish community and a Democrat known for breaking with his own party, is incensed over what he feels is Mr. Hagel’s insufficient support for Israel and a controversial comment he once made referring to the “Jewish lobby.”

“Hagel’s policy positions have been anti-Israel and pro-Iranian,” Mr. Hikind declared in a press release blasted out earlier this afternoon that compared Mr. Hagel with Neville Chamberlain, the former British Prime Minister famous for appeasing Adolf Hitler before World War Two.  Read More

Allies Compare Federal Probe of John Liu to Holocaust

Earlier this afternoon, community leaders gathered together off Bowery Street in Chinatown to castigate the federal government for their continued investigation of Comptroller John Liu’s fundraising operation. Before the criminal charges were leveled against his campaign treasurer and a top donor, Mr. Liu was a leading candidate for mayor, causing the event’s speakers to surmise there were political motivations behind the allegations. Among those speaking out against the feds were former Rep. Major Owens, who blasted the 18 month-long investigation as “Nixonian,” and former District Leader Virginia Kee, who used even sharper rhetoric by invoking the Holocaust. Read More

Senator Ruben Diaz: ‘Hitler Was Pro-Choice’

State Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. released a lengthy thousand word statement today outlining his views on abortion. Mr. Diaz explained why he believes abortion amounts to the “killing of unborn babies” and why he thinks it’s time to “forget about being politically correct by being Pro-Choice.”

“Hitler was pro-choice. He chose to send the Jews to Auschwitz. That was not their choice that was Hitler’s choice,” Mr. Diaz said. “Murderers, assassins and criminals are pro-choice. Vallone and Oddo Defend NYPD From Protesters' Criticism

Council Members Peter Vallone and Jimmy Oddo took issue with the rhetoric used in this weekend’s “police accountability” protest.  In separate Facebook posts, they took issue with Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs’ quote on the event: “To borrow from the famous Holocaust-era quote, first the NYPD came for the black and Latino community; if we don’t speak out, there will be no one left to speak out when they come for us.”

“Oh my, Assemblywoman, is this irresponsible. And stupid beyond words,” Councilman Oddo wrote, adding in the comments that he felt the remark was “so irrational and beyond the pale it is staggering.”  He also sent out a critical tweet: “Wow…whoa…Assemblywoman…we are all dumber for having read such an ignorant comment…Lord have mercy…” Read More
