Nassau County Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy showed she wasn't going to take her reelection efforts for granted by raising $211,000 this cycle, Politicker has learned. This puts her total amount of money in the bank at $636,000.

As mentioned when Politicker reported neighboring Congressman Gary Ackerman's fundraising totals this afternoon, Ms. McCarthy represents a district that could theoretically be vulnerable in the redistricting process.

New York will lose two Congressional seats this cycle and there is much speculation about which seats will be combined or cut up to make this happen. Regardless of what will happen with the lines, Ms. McCarthy looks like she's getting prepared.

Congresswoman McCarthy was quick to note the breadth of her support on Twitter this evening, pointing out the vast majority of her donors came in small amounts, under $100.

Congressman Gary Ackerman, who could see his Queens and Nassau district lumped together with another seat when New York loses two Congressional Districts this cycle, posted a relatively modest campaign haul this cycle, just $52,000. However, the Congressman does have a solid amount of campaign cash on hand, almost exactly $500,000.

This places him in a relatively decent position should his district be combined with recently elected GOP Congressman Bob Turner. Mr. Turner reported just $72,000 in his campaign account last week.

New York Assembly Speaker Shelly Silver recently floated the prospect of letting Mr. Turner's Democratic-leaning district survive redistricting, something that could complicate the life of another incumbent in the area.

Due to a relative lack of population growth, many expect one of the two districts to be eliminated Upstate and the other to be in the vicinity of Queens or Nassau County. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, who has yet to release her campaign finance reports, could be another candidate on the very hypothetical chopping block.

Recently elected GOP Congressman Bob Turner reported a relatively modest campaign haul today, showing just $76,000 raised with $71,000 cash on hand since the last reporting period. This is not  an especially large pot of money to to proceed forward in what could be a tough reelection environment for him. For comparison, New York City's other Republican Congressman, Michael Grimm, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars this cycle and has over a million dollars in the bank.

Mr. Turner won a special election last summer in a fairly Democratic district that former Congressman Anthony Weiner left behind when a tweet scandal infamously imploded his career. The Democratic-leaning nature of the district alone could present a challenge for the freshman Congressman, but his district additionally faces perhaps more uncertainty in the redistricting process than any other seat.

New York is slated to lose two districts this year due to its relative population loss compared to the rest of the country, and Mr. Turner, who occupies an oddly shaped seat surrounded by areas that reported weak population growth int he last Census, has a decent chance of seeing his district divided up into nearby districts.

Because of the uncertainty surrounding redistricting, no Democratic challengers have declared their intentions to run for the seat either. Queens Assemblyman Rory Lancman is viewed as a likely candidate should the district survive.

Notably among Mr. Turner's contributors is Marc Cenedella, a candidate seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Senator Kirsten Gillibrand this fall. Mr. Cenedella gave $2,500.

A low fundraising isn't necessarily a huge problem for Mr. Turner. A wealthy former television executive he poured in $65,000 of his own money the last  time around and could do so again.

Liberal Massachusetts Senate candidate and media sensation Elizabeth Warren is having a fancy Upper East Side fundraiser with controversial billionaire investor George Soros and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. 

The fundraiser was first reported by Ben Smith of Politico.

Ms. Warren has earned headlines and anger from the right for her focus on income inequality that her detractors call "class warfare." Her fundraiser this evening features a minimum suggested donation of $1,000 and a committee of sponsors that includes Mr. Schneiderman and Mr. Soros. Ms. Warren's fundraiser will take place at the home of Karen Mehiel, wife of  Westchester businessman and former scandal prone candidate for lieutenant governor, Dennis Mehiel. The Mehiel home regularly hosts Democrats seeking Big Apple donor dollars.

Mr. Soros has earned a status as an economic bogeyman among conservative  critics for his support of a wide variety of progressive causes. Recently, a questionable Reuters article and the radio host Rush Limbaugh attempted to suggest there is a nefarious connection between Mr. Soros and Occupy Wall Street.

Ms. Warren has worked on President Obama's executive staff and as a professor at Harvard Law. She's running against Scott Brown, who came to the Senate via the 2010 special election to replace the late Senator Ted Kennedy. Mr. Brown's victory was considered a major coup for the Republicans since, prior to his win, the G.O.P. hadn't won a Senate seat in Massachusetts since 1972.

It's being billed as a special appearance -- even amid a busy slate of local events for the president -- because the first lady will be joining him.

And now -- it seems -- so will Alicia Keys.

An updated copy of the invitation was just sent out by Suffolk County legislator -- and prominent Long Island fundraiser -- Jon Cooper announcing that Keys will be a featured performer at the gala dinner.

Tickets start at $2,500, and $100,000 will get you on the host committee.

Keys was in attendance, but didn't perform, at a star-studded fundraiser for the president a few weeks ago at Harvey Weinstein's house.

Barbour has deep fundraising ties in the city, due to his work with the Republican National Committee and, more recently, the Republican Governors Association.

Despite a very brief presidential run earlier this year, Barbour remains a Republican star and should help state chairman Ed Cox raise some money at the annual dinner. It's a reprise role for Barbour, who headlined last year along with Donald Trump.
