“The campaign trail is going excellent,” Democratic Congressional candidate Julian Schreibman told us this evening, noting his shoe soles were almost warn out and his campaign is energetically crisscrossing the Hudson Valley and Catskills district. Indeed, Mr. Schreibman’s bid to take out incumbent Rep. Chris Gibson may be the Democrats’ best hope at a congressional pickup statewide, outside of former Rep. Dan Maffei’s bid to retake his old seat in Syracuse. “We know that this is going to be a very, very close election, it depends a lot on making sure that folks get out to vote. Due to the hurricane, a number of elected officials dropped plans to attend the Somos el Futuro winter conference in Puerto Rico, a normal ritual for aspiring pols in New York City. After all the cancellations, the conference itself was canceled.
