Analysts offer last-minute predictions

Several New Hampshire political analysts have offered their predictions for Election Day.

All the analysts cited say the Democrats are poised to win the congressional races in New Hampshire and will keep control of the State House.

Smith predicts Democratic sweep

Andy Smith, director of the UNH Survey Center, is predicting that the Democratic federal candidates will win in New Hampshire.
 
"Barack Obama looks to win New Hampshire by a comfortable margin on Tuesday. In the race for U.S. Senate, Shaheen should win a narrow victory over incumbent John Sununu," Smith writes in his latest poll. "In Congressional races, incumbent Paul Hodes is predicted to win New Hampshire's 2nd District and incumbent Carol Shea-Porter looks to pull out a narrow victory in the 1st District."

Globe poll shows Dems lead in major races

A new poll has the major Democratic candidates leading their Republican opponents in New Hampshire.

A Boston Globe poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire's Survey Center, has former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) beating U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) 49 percent to 36 percent. In the 1st Congressional District U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) is leading former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) 44 percent to 39 percent while in the 2nd Congressional District U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) is leading Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) 51 percent to 25 percent.

UNH: Bradley, Hodes ahead in races

A University of New Hampshire poll puts former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) and U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) ahead in their respective races.

In the 1st Congressional District Bradley is beating incumbent U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) 45 percent to 42 percent with 12 percent undecided. In the 2nd Congressional District Hodes is leading Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) 38 percent to 26 percent with 33 undecided.

UNH Poll shows Obama with small lead in Granite State

A University of New Hampshire poll shows U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) leading his rival U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) a day before the presumptive GOP presidential nominee is scheduled to campaign in the Granite State.

The Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, has Obama leading McCain 46 percent to 43 percent. An poll conducted in the spring had McCain beating Obama 49 percent to 43 percent. The poll also has 51 percent of likely voters saying they "definitely" know who they will be voting for in November.

GOP at decade low in party ID

Let's pick up where we left off last week, and put the Democrats' current 6-point advantage in party ID (as measured by my colleague Andy Smith at the University of New Hampshire Survey Center) in recent historical perspective.

So far this decade, New Hampshire has had two close elections and two lopsided ones. In all four, UNH Survey Center polling of voters' party identification offered an important clue as to the strength and heading of the political winds.

Bush, Iraq war remain unpopular in Granite State

President George Bush, and the Iraq war, continues to remain unpopular among Granite State residents.

Only 28% of New Hampshire adults approve of the job Bush is doing and 69% disapprove, according to a new Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

Poll shows residents unaware of budget problems; plurality favors legalized gambling

A poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire shows residents are largely unaware of the current budget problems facing the state.

According to the Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, 17% said they have heard a lot about the state budget, 59% say they have heard a little and 23% said they have heard nothing at all.

UNH Poll shows McCain beating Clinton, Obama

U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is leading both U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D- New York) and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) in the Granite State.

McCain is beating Clinton 47%-44% and leading Obama 49%-43%, according to the latest the Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.
