Obama campaign opens Manchester headquarters

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's "Campaign for Change" opened its Manchester headquarters with both a crowd of supporters and protestors standing outside the building.

Speaking at the event were New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley, Obama senior advisor Jim Demers, New Hampshire Democratic Party Political Director Mike Brunelle, state Sens. Lou D'Allesandro (D-Manchester) and Sylvia Larsen (D-Concord) and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

House, Senate finish year with special session

CONCORD- Late last night the House and Senate finished their legislative year with a special session.

The session was called by Gov. John Lynch (Hopkinton) to attempt to close the looming budget deficit.

Special session called to deal with budget

Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton), Senate President Sylvia Larsen (D-Concord) and House Speaker Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) will call for a special session tomorrow to deal with the budget deficit.

Lynch will ask the Executive Council to approve the special session that will take place after the House and Senate hold their regular sessions.

NH Dems hold unity event

Democratic leaders at "Unity 08" press conferenceCONCORD- Despite the ongoing primary battle between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, supporters from various Democratic presidential campaigns gathered today to launch “Unity 08,” a push to put a Democrat back in the White House.

The effort is aimed at highlighting John McCain's record.

Former Party Chairwoman Kathy Sullivan, State Rep. Terri Norelli and State Sen. Sylvia Larsen represented the Clinton campaign. Ned Helms and State Sen. Martha Fuller Clark represented the Obama camp and State Sen. Peter Burling represented the Edwards campaign. State Party Chairman Ray Buckley was also present.
