Question 3 proponents up with new ad statewide

The group backing Question 3, the measure that would eliminate dog racing in Massachusetts, is up with a new TV ad that is running statewide through the election on Tuesday.

The ad is the Committee to Protect Dogs' second TV ad and is running statewide on all broadcast channels in Boston, all broadcast channels in Springfield and on cable in both the Boston area and western Massachusetts, according to the committee.

"It is cruel and inhumane," the ad's narrator says. "Thousands of greyhound dogs endure lives of terrible confinement. They are forced to live in small cages barely large enough for them to stand up or turn around for at least 20 hours a day."

The ad also claims that more than 800 dogs have been injured dog racing since 2002 and 19 dogs died in cages in just one month.

"Question 3 will phase out greyhound racing in Massachusetts," the narrator says. "It's time to stop the cruelty. Vote for the dogs. Vote ‘yes' on Question 3."

Check out the ad below and click here for the group's first ad.

Stivers burns Kilroy with past in final ad

The last ad from 15th Congressional District candidate Steve Stivers is accusing Mary Jo Kilroy of burning through taxpayers’ money if she’s elected to Congress.

Stivers’ (R-Columbus) ad builds the case against Kilroy’s (D-Columbus) future in Congress by citing her past as a Franklin County commissioner and Columbus school board member – all the while showing money burning behind Kilroy’s picture.

Kilroy is accused of losing $1 million worth of school money while on its board and raising taxes by $200 million on Franklin County residents as commissioner.

With ‘elephants’ ad, Frank calls for an end to the ‘circus on Wall Street’

Barney Frank's new ad for his re-election campaign is sure to turn heads.

The ad, the first of two ads Frank is running, features vintage footage of elephants as a deep-voiced narrator heaps blame on Republicans for their role in the current financial crisis.

"The Republicans are running scared from today's financial crisis," the narrator says, as elephants run across the screen. "For 12 years they did the bidding of the financial giants that wanted no regulation. Right wing Republicans are still carrying the high flyers of Wall Street who caused this crisis."

"One man is taking them on and looking out for average people," the narrator adds. "Barney Frank wants these giant institutions brought into line."

Frank, a Newton Democrat, is currently being challenged by Republican Earl Sholley and Democrat-turned-independent Susan Allen.

The ad was produced by local Democratic strategist Dan Payne's media shop.

Space attacks cash-strapped Dailey on TV

U.S. Rep. Zack Space (D-Dover) has more than 11 times as much cash on hand than Fred Dailey (R-Mt. Vernon) and the 18th Congressional District race isn't listed as competitive by many national observers.

But that didn't prevent Space from launching an attack ad against Dailey -- who isn't even on television himself.

The 30-second ad was seen by PolitickerOH.com during the 8:00 hour on a Columbus station. It attacks Dailey for supporting NAFTA and American jobs.

Schuring hits Boccieri on outside groups ‘buying seat’ through ‘negative TV ads’

The campaign of state Sen. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Township) is criticizing its opponent, state Sen. John Boccieri (D-Alliance), for receiving help from outside organizations spending money on advertising in the district.

The Schuring camp says groups like the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Patriot Majority Midwest are attempting "to buy the seat for Youngstown Senator John Boccieri."

Schuring campaign manager PJ Wenzel is pointing to Federal Elections Commission reports, which they say shows "more than $1.6 million has been spent on negative advertising in the district, most on television ads and direct-mail pieces" aimed at "life-long district resident" Schuring.

Schmidt camp says Wulsin camp is 'imploding'

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) responded to an ad being run by opponent Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) by saying that the Wulsin campaign is "imploding."

Schmidt spokesperson Bruce Pfaff responed to an attack ad from the Wulsin campaign hitting Schmidt for comments made during a debate on the economic crisis.

"Another day another Wulsin lie, she just can't seem to tell the truth," Pfaff said. "She even lies about telling the truth. Ms. Wulsin's campaign is imploding, she can't seem to run ads on network T.V. and her nonsensical ramblings at the first debate did more to ensure Congresswoman Schmidt's re-election than anything we could have done. It's a good thing she has her job in Kenya to fall back on after November."

After the debate, the campaign of Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) piled on with a press release hitting Schmidt for the remark. Now Wulsin is out with a new campaign ad hitting Schmidt for the remark.
