Bush to raise $570K, deliver energy message in Cleveland

President Bush: Politicker PhotoPresident Bush will come to Ohio tomorrow to raise $570,000 for the Republican Congressional efforts and drive the GOP's energy message.

Bush is expected to touch down in Cleveland tomorrow afternoon, following an 11 a.m. singing of U.S. Rep. Deb Pryce’s (R-Columbus) pediatric cancer bill in the Oval Office.

Bush’s primary message of the day will be on energy, which he’ll deliver from the Lincoln Electric Company. Lincoln is a manufacturer of heavy equipment used predominately in oil refiners, pipelines and refineries.

“He’s going to tour Lincoln Electric and speak to their employees about the importance of their work to American’s energy security,” said White House spokesperson Trey Bohn.

Afterward Bush will attend a private fundraiser in Gates Mills with 110 attendees that will raise about $570,000 for the Congressional Trust, according to a Republican National Committee official. The trust is a joint-fundraising committee between the RNC and the National Republican Congressional Committee that funds the GOP's coordinated campaign for Congressional candidates, the official said.

Bush will also award the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Linda Campbell upon arrival in Cleveland. Campbell won the award for her efforts to raise $100,000 for breast cancer programs.

N.H. Dems raise more than N.H GOP

Lost in all the candidate fillings we neglected to mention the FEC filings from the New Hampshire Republican Party (NHGOP) and the New Hampshire Democratic Party (NHDP).

During the month of June the NHDP raised almost nine times more money than the NHGOP. The state Democrats raised $259,959 and spent $228,155; while the NHGOP raised $30,480 and spent $17,906. A part of the NHDP total is transfers from the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committe  that total $177,707. RNC to hit Obama on TV for first time

The Republican National Committee will begin airing ads attacking presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama on energy in Ohio and three other states beginning Sunday and airing through July 15.

The RNC is spending $3 million between Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, according to Roll Call. It will be the seventh presidential ad of the general election, as John McCain has aired four seperate ads in Ohio and Obama two ads.

Neither man has attacked one another in their ads, making the RNC's ad the first television attack of the campaign -- aside from independent expenditures by labor groups targeting McCain.

McCain has made energy a key message in his campaign, airing two ads on the subject (see here and here) and making it the focus of his opening remarks during a Cincinnati town hall meeting last week.

Republicans blast Dems at convention and assert their readiness for general

BOWLING GREEN --"If you read the New York Times today or just watched what was going on television, you would think that this election is over with and Barack Obama has already been coronated," said Republican National Committee Chair Mike Duncan at Saturday's Kentucky Republican convention in Bowling Green. "But let me tell you, that is not the case...we are ready for this election."

As national polls and speculation abound predicting a tough 2008 for Republicans across the country, top Kentucky Republicans sought to combat that trend in thinking by presenting their party as prepared for the general election while ripping into their Democratic opponents throughout their state convention this weekend.

RNC sees McCain as a good match for state's independent voters

John McCain has already visited Washington once this spring, and it undoubtedly will not be the last voters will see of the Arizona Senator and presumptive Republican presidential nominee. The Republican National Committee has sent a Victory Director to the Evergreen State to coordinate state and national campaigns, with Washington being one of just nine swing states nationwide to receive that designation.

Chris Gulugian-Taylor, a former legislative assistant to state Senator Cheryl Pflug who worked on the Bush-Cheney re-election effort here in 2004, told PolitickerWA.com today that he hoped to "capture the energy and momentum of candidates like John McCain, Dino Rossi and Rob McKenna" in bringing voters to the polls this November.
