Polling rumors float at Kratovil fundraiser

EASTON -- Congressional candidate Frank Kratovil (D-Stevensville) says he believes his campaign is tied with Republican Andy Harris's.

"The most recent ones showed us at 36, tied at 36," said Kratovil of Harris's camp at a Friday night fundraiser.

Kratovil was referencing an internal poll released last month by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

"There was a rumor that he [Harris] did an internal one and it showed us even better than that," Kratovi told PolitickerMD.com. "But you know - that's rumors."

NRCC beats socialist drum against Kilroy

Republicans continue to beat the socialist drum against Mary Jo Kilroy, the Democratic nominee in the 15th Congressional District.

Today the National Republican Congressional Committee sent a press release claiming to have found further evidence of Kilroy’s ties to socialists, namely a press release for an event she attended in 1997.

According to a version of the press release posted on to an online discussion board at the University of Utah, which the NRCC included in its press release, Kilroy attended the “Center for Democratic Values Conference” in 1997, sponsored by the Democratic Socialists of America. Kilroy, then a member of the Columbus school board, argued in favor of public schools at this right-left debate.

For NRCC spokesperson Ken Spain that proves Kilroy is an extremist.

NRCC launches ad hammering Dahlkemper

WASHINGTON – After weeks of watching its candidates barraged by its Democratic counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee has started up its independent expenditure advertising campaign. The committee is airing an ad beginning today in Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District, where U.S. Rep. Phil English (R-Erie) is battling to defend his seat from a challenge by Democrat Kathy Dahlkemper.

The committee did not immediately release details on the size of buy for the 30-second ad, which takes Dahlkemper to task on energy and gas prices.

“Kathy Dahlkemper has some wacky ideas,” an announcer says. “Take energy. Kathy Dahlkemper opposes suspending the federal gas tax, which would help consumers right now. And that would help lower your cost at the pump. Dahlkemper’s wacky solution: she said we should make personal sacrifices, such as walking places or riding a bike. Hmmm, why don’t we try using dog sleds, too?

DCCC investing in Lord after all

Earlier this week I wrote in the Inside Edge column about how the DCCC has been investing heavily in television ads for congressional candidates in Arizona, but missing was any support for Bob Lord. Lord was hyped early by Democrats for his fundraising success which made the absence of paid media a little surprising. The DCCC is not leaving Lord completely on his own though as it looks like they will be dropping some mail for his campaign.
