Michelle Obama or Joe Biden to visit Maine

DENVER -- Karen Harris and Jill Duson, Maine delegates who are working on Barack Obama campaign, said the state can expect a high profile visit soon.

It is unlikely that Barack Obama will come back to Maine, Harris told the Maine delegates Thursday, but they have heard that either Michelle Obama or Joe Biden will visit the state in September.

The local party and campaign leaders need to make the arrangements and raise the money, Harris said, then they will be notified two weeks before the visit.

Maine House Speaker Glenn Cummings told PolitickerME last Saturday that Biden was planning a visit to the state.

Gansler says Hillary was at her best last night

Attorney General Doug Gansler (D)DENVER - Attorney General Doug Gansler believes Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton’s speeches at the Democratic National Convention may have puts some doubts to rest.

“Together they went a long way to bridging the gap for some women who had lingering concerns,” he said “I think Michelle Obama put that to rest on the first night of the convention and Hillary Clinton really took it the rest of the way by saying ‘look this isn’t about me. It’s about what we’re trying to do here.’”

Gansler said Clinton’s address was the “best speech I’ve ever seen her deliver.”

4 years later Kerry relives his acceptance speech, broken teleprompter

DENVER - U.S. Sen. John Kerry, the last Democrat to accept a presidential nomination, and his wife, Theresa Heinz, sat down with PolitickerMA.com to reflect upon their experience in 2004 and talk about what this year's nominee, Barack Obama, can expect. Kerry said the convention went by so quickly, he didn't have a moment to reflect on the significance of the event.  "Well, I wish there was time for a kind of introspection; that would be very sweet and enjoyable," Kerry said. "But frankly, you're so focused, and so it's so much a part of the continuum that you don't have time for that kind of introspection. You just don't."

"I think they were moving," Reeves told PolitickerWA.com." They were inspirational and awe-inspring and, regardless of what FOX News will tell you, they were motivational in a lot of ways."

DENVER - A core member of the Booker Team, South Ward Councilman Oscar James II exulted in the speech delivered last night by Michelle Obama, even as he noted the persistent gloom of some Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) supporters in the New Jersey delegation.

"It makes me a little nervous because we have to be united," said James.

Widely hailed as a homerun by the New Jersey delegation, the speech by the wife of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee did not go too heavy on family values to the detriment of hard, urban issues, in James’s view.
