VP candidates in Pa. Thursday

With both campaigns making their final push for Pennsylvania's 21 electoral votes, the vice-presidential nominees will be here Thursday.

Democrat Joe Biden will hold rallies in Williamsport and Allentown. Republican Sarah Palin will be in Erie before also visiting Williamsport. She is scheduled to stay in the state Friday for events in York and Latrobe.

Most polls have Barack Obama and the Democratic ticket leading John McCain and Palin by double-digits

New poll puts Obama ahead of McCain in California by 23 points

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama leads Republican nominee John McCain by a large margin in California, and two of the most high-profile ballot measures are on the tipping point between passing and failing, according to a new survey released late Wednesday by the Public Policy Institute of California.

The ticket of Obama and Joe Biden leads McCain and Sarah Palin by a margin of 56-33 among likely voters, a 13-point gain for the Democratic ticket in the last month. Obama and Biden are doing particularly well among women, Latinos, younger voters and independents, according to the PPIC.

Strickland and Brown at a press conference Monday: Politicker PhotoCOLUMBUS - Ohio's most senior Democrats told PolitickerOH.com that Barack Obama is closing the deal with Ohio voters, helping clear the obstacle of race that may have held him back in previous months.

"First of all I think he has a message that resonates with the people of Ohio, and that's an economic message," Gov. Ted Strickland said. "I think it will be close but in the end Ohio will support Barack and i think Barack Obama will be the next president."

Gregoire calls for the ability for the 'two Washingtons' to work together for change

TACOMA -- Chris Gregoire received a rollicking reception from the crowd of 12,000 at the Cheney Stadium rally for Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden, stopping her speech short at one point to acknowledge a section of the crowd that was frantically waving to her from the right field bleachers.

Gregoire, somewhat surprisingly, spent much of her time on stage, about seven minutes, talking up the Obama-Biden ticket.

She said Obama hit it out of the ballpark when he chose Biden, who she said she had worked with while attorney general, and that he would be a vice president" each and every one of us can count on."

Biden to visit Colorado next week

Joe Biden: Getty Images PhotoDemocratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden will make stops around Colorado next Tuesday and Wednesday, Barack Obama's presidential campaign announced Friday.

Details about Biden's visit were not immediately provided.

It will be the first time Biden has appeared in Colorado since receiving the vice presidential nomination in August during the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Biden, Gregoire heading to Tacoma

Sen. Joe BidenDemocratic Vice Presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) will be heading to Tacoma this weekend in addition to his previously scheduled fundraiser in Seattle, the News-Tribune is reporting.

Biden will attend a rally at Cheney Stadium, which holds 7,500 people, alongside Gov. Chris Gregoire. It will be the first appearance by a member of either party's ticket since Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) came to North Bend in the spring.

Obama up 7 in Colorado, CNN/Time poll shows

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is leading Colorado by 7 percentage points over Republican opponent John McCain, according to a Time/CNN poll released Wednesday.

Obama led McCain in Colorado 50-43 in the poll; Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr polled 3 percent, independent candidate Ralph Nader polled 3 percent, and Green Party nominee Cynthia McKinney polled 1 percent.

Asked to choose just between the Republican and Democratic presidential tickets, 51 percent of those polled said they supported Obama  and running mate Joe Biden;  47 percent chose McCain and his vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

The poll was conducted Oct. 11-14 among 762 likely voters in Colorado. The survey's margin of error was +/- 3.5 percent.

Biden hoping for Red Sox-Phillies series

MANCHESTER--In the heart of Red Sox Nation Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden admitted that he is a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.

"I know you guys have concerns and that's what the matter with Josh Beckett's arm," Biden joked.

Biden added, "I'm hoping for a Red Sox-Phillies World Series."
