Sununu praises McCain's speech

U.S. Sen. John McCain and U.S. Sen. John Sununu

MINNEAPOLIS--U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) issued a statement minutes after U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) finished his nomination before the Republican National Convention.

"John McCain's strength as a leader comes from personal experience and hard fought battles in which he has usually prevailed," Sununu said in a statement. "He's not afraid to stand alone, but he's also willing to reach across the political aisle."

Cullen criticizes Obama’s stage

DENVER--U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has not yet given his nomination speech and the New Hampshire Republicans are already issuing press releases against Obama.

Fergus Cullen, chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, said the stage Obama is scheduled to speak from personifies his ego.

Sgambati remembers Obama’s ’04 speech

DENVER-- Hours before Barack Obama accepts the Democratic presidential nomination, state Sen. Kathy Sgambati (D-Tilton) said she knew Obama would someday run for higher elective office when she saw him deliver the keynote speech at the 2004 convention but she didn't think it would be so soon.

"I wasn't sure it'd be four years later, but clearly I thought he was articulate and he'd be a force in the future," Sgambati told PolitickerNH.com.

Day 4: Dems prepare for Invesco

DENVER--New Hampshire Democrats wasted no time this morning preparing for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's speech at Invesco field.

Delegates were busy coordinating schedules, meeting spots and state Sen. Peter Burling (D-Cornish) and Martin Gross was going to buy hats and sunscreen for delegates.

Hutson switches parties in prime time

DENVER- John Hutson told the Democratic National Convention that he has switched his party registration so he can vote for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama in November.

Hutson, a retired Navy admiral and dean of the Franklin Pierce Law Center, said the Republican party has drifted from its core principles.

Cullen: Shaheen’s speech short on specifics

DENVER-New Hampshire Republican Chairman Fergus Cullen issued a statement shortly after former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen's address to the Democratic National Convention.

Cullen said that Shaheen's address was filled with "liberal talking points."

Burling split over Edwards absence

DENVER -- A New Hampshire delegate for former U.S. Sen. John Edwards is torn over the absence from the Democratic National Convention of the man he supported during the New Hampshire primary.

State Sen. Peter Burling (D-Cornish) said "there's a yes and no answer" when asked whether he was disappointed that Edwards would not be speaking at the convention.
