Hensley charges dismissed

A charge of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor pending against two-time gubernatorial candidate Otis Hensley has been dismissed, according to a report from Polwatchers.

Hensley was initially charged after an incident when he made a suggestive comment to the mother of two young girls he encountered at a supermarket.

"Hey, do you want to trade them girls for a good hog?" was the comment he reportedly made at the time to the mother of the girls.

Hensley maintained the line was a joke he frequently used around his home Harlan County.

Hensley registered minimal support during two Gubernatorial bids in 2003 and 2007.

Hensley says incident that led to arrest 'was just a joke'

Speaking to Lexington's WKYT-TV from the Harlan County Detention Center, former Gubernatorial candidate Otis Hensley professed his innocence in the face of charges that he solicited sex from two minors.

Acknowledging that he encountered the two girls in question at a grocery store in Harlan County, Hensley said his only interaction with them was part of a joke.

According to Hensley, he approached a woman at Don's Super Savers in Harlan who was near the two girls.

"Everybody knows me and I just walked up and said to this woman - I thought she knew who I was - and said 'Hey, Do you want to take them girls for a good hog?'" said Hensley. "And I just walked off. That was all that was said."

"It was just a joke," he added.

Two-time gubernatorial long-shot candidate arrested

Otis "The Bull Man" Hensley is being arraigned in Harlan County today after being arrested on Monday. Hensley is charged with first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor younger than 16, according to Polwatchers, after he allegedly tried to encourage a 13-year-old and an 11-year-old girl to engage in "illegal sexual activity."

Details are scarce, but the charge Hensley is tried with reportedly can carry a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison.

Hensley ran two long-shotbids for Governor as a Democrat in 2003 and 2007.

A demolition contractor in Harlan, Hensley garnered attention on the campaign trail after claiming he would "control the bull in Frankfort" - a message displayed on a giant fiberglass bull named "Frank-O" that Hensely brought with him to campaign appearances.
