UPDATED: Hermes camp denies involvement in sign stealing

CORRECTION: The original version of this story indicated Fulton Brock signs were stolen by the Hermes supporter. The story has been amended.

The Ed Hermes campaign did not order or have knowledge of a supporter sealing the signs of rival Fulton Brock, a campaign spokesman told PolitickerAZ.com, after the Brock camp put out a release indicating a Hermes backer may have been engaged in the theft of Brock signs.

"We just found out about it," said Wylie Timmerman, spokesman for the campaign. "Our campaign doesn't engage in that sort of behavior."

Earlier Thursday, the Brock campaign put out a press release that included a memo written Det. Tim Miller of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, in which Miller described his apprehension of a young woman who was tearing down a Brock sign in Tempe last Friday.

"For most of his career Congressman Shadegg has not had well-funded, serious opposition," reads the invitation. "This year is very different."
