Gallus hitting the pavement in re-election bid

Incumbent state Sen. John Gallus (R-Berlin) told PolitickerNH.com that he is working 12 to 14 hour days trying to get re-elected to the Senate District 1 seat.

Gallus is running for re-election against state Rep. Martha McLeod (D-Franconia).

Dems to participate in DLC conference

Seventeen New Hampshire Democrats will be participating in the Democratic Leadership Conference meeting this weekend.

Concord City Councilor Rob Werner is organizing the trip to the DLC's "National Conversation" conference in Chicago.

Surveying the state of GOP state Senate races

Now that filings are complete, let's take a look at the field of play in the state Senate.

We're keeping an eye on 11 races as election season begins. Republicans hold five, Democrats hold six. Two are open seats, nine will be defended by incumbents. The other 13 seats are unlikely to become competitive because of the partisan tilt of the district, the presence of a strong incumbent, or both. As campaigns develop, we will revisit the list from time to time.

McLeod running for state senate

State Rep. Martha McLeod (D-Franconia) is running for the state senate.

McLeod will be facing current state Sen. John Gallus (R-Berlin) for the District 1 seat.
