Not on the list, but on his mind

Prominent political observer Stu Rothenberg put out his latest House rankings on Tuesday, and yet again, the 1st District was not on his list of competitive races -- meaning it's safe for the incumbent party and its nominee, Andy Harris.

But that doesn't mean Rothenberg hasn't noticed Democratic challenger Frank Kratovil.

Rothenberg V Rasmussen

Last Week Scott Rasmussen told us that the Collins v Allen race was tightening up. In fact, according to Rasmussen, Allen had closed the gap to just 7 points. That was quite a move from the 15 point margin earlier in the Spring. It was pretty clear that the better Allen numbers were coming at a good time. Just a few short weeks ago, one of the third party groups, unionfacts.org released a poll trumpeting a 15 point lead for Collins. That news was quickly followed by news of a two million dollar cash on hand advantage for Collins. To say the Rasmussen numbers came at good time would be an understatement.

Rothenberg: MD-01 stays put

Esteemed political observer Stu Rothenberg made his latest
assessment of competitive House races on Friday.

Despite others' opinions, he considers the contest in the First District is not among the 63 seats "considered to be at limited risk for the incumbent party."

In other words, he thinks it'll be a snoozer.

DC Pundits keep Maine’s two House seats in the D column.

Stu Rothenberg a well known DC politico has just released his latest predictions on the 2008 US House races. In his opening paragraph Rothenberg states, “Here are our latest House ratings. Any seats not listed are currently considered to be at limited risk for the incumbent party.”

Maine does not appear on any of his lists, which according to Rothenberg, means Maine’s two congressional seats will remain in the hands of the democrats
