BIAW ads hit the tv airwaves

The BIAW's new Change PAC television ads have now been released. According to Postman, they focus on the tribal casino deal that Gov. Gregoire authorized last year, which the Republicans are claiming was a quid pro quo.

The ad shows an elderly woman playing slot machines that land on pictures of the Democratic donkey logo and a winking Gregoire, but with no payout for the gambler. The ad says that "Christine Gregoire and tribal casinos are the only winners here."

MSA, Fitts speak out against pocket veto on gambling bill

State Rep. Stacey Fitts, R-Pittsfield, called Gov. John Baldacci misguided for refusing to sign a bill that would have allowed non-profits to use gambling events as fundraisers.

Baldacci rejects four bills by pocket veto

Gov. John BaldacciGov. John BaldacciGov. John Baldacci is planning a pocket veto of four bills passed last week, according to a release from his office.

The bills are:

-An act to generate savings by changing public notice requirements

-An act to authorize low-stakes cribbage games by charitable and fraternal organizations
