Beatty: Campaign going exactly as planned

Republican U.S. Senate challenger Jeff Beatty said Sunday that his campaign to defeat John Kerry is going exactly as planned.

In a telephone interview with PolitickerMA.com on the way to the first of three camnpaign events on Sunday, Beatty said he knew all along that they would have to make a move late in the race to close the gap with Kerry.

"This is exactly the way we knew the plan had to unfold," Beatty said, "that we were going to have to rise up in the last days of the campaign."

The most recent polls show Kerry holding a significant lead over Beatty heading into Election Day A 7News/Suffolk University poll at the end of October showed Kerry up by 37 percent.

Romney calls N.H. 'very, very close race'

MANCHESTER--Bucking polls that show John McCain with a double-digit deficit to Barack Obama, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said that he thinks the race in New Hampshire is "very, very close."

"I'm seeing other polls, of course we all rely on the polls we like best, I'm seeing polls that our done by our campaigns that show this is a very, very close race," Romney told reporters  after visiting Oven Poppers. "I don't think it's very easy for pollsters this time to judge just whose going to vote, how they're going to vote."

UNH: Bush at 27% approval in state

A University of New Hampshire poll puts President George W. Bush's approval rating at 27 percent among adults.

The WMUR Granite State Poll, sponsored by WMUR-TV and conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, also shows that 70 percent of adults disapprove of Bush's handling of the economy and 61 percent disapprove of his handling of foreign policy.

Analysts say Biden could help Obama in N.H. for different reasons

New Hampshire political analysts are unsure has to the impact that Barack Obama's decision to have Joe Biden as his running-mate will have in the Granite State.

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's 2 millionth donor is a Granite State resident.

Edward Prouty, of Atkinson, donated $25 to the campaign and even got a phone call from Obama.
