Bloomberg Says Skipping St. Patrick’s Day Parade Only ‘Hardens’ Views

Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in an interview broadcast today that skipping the St. Patrick’s Day Parade–as his successer, Bill de Blasio plans to do–could “harden” parade organizers’ anti-LGBT views.

The official parade down Fifth Avenue prohibits openly gay groups from marching, prompting numerous officials to boycott the festivities this year. Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg sat down with Yahoo News anchor Katie Couric for his first major interview since leaving office, where he finally weighed in on his successor, Bill de Blasio, after months of silence.
