Chris Christie Throws His Weight Behind Scott Walker

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is taking his show on the road and traveling to Wisconsin to stump for that state’s embattled governor, Scott Walker, who’s facing a recall election over his decision to eliminate collective bargaining for public employees. Mr. Christie’s trip to Wisconsin will kick off a summer tour of conservative events that will take him to Washington D.C., Kentucky and Chicago where he’s appearing at the regional conference of the Conservative Political Action Committee alongside Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann and Bobby Jindal. Romney Campaign: ‘It’s On’

After Mitt Romney’s victories in the Wisconsin, Maryland and District of Columbia presidential primaries last night, he has more than half the delegates he needs to lock up the Republican nomination. According to Mr. Romney’s press secretary, Andrea Saul, President Barack Obama has taken notice of Mitt’s momentum. In an email to supporters sent after his three wins last night, Ms. Saul said the president is turning to negative ads because it’s clear “Americans across the nation are rallying around Mitt’s positive vision and plan for our country.”

“Mitt is well on his way to the nomination. And given the sudden increase in excuses and blame from President Obama, it’s apparent President Obama’s team is aware of that as well,” Ms. Saul said. Read More

Melissa Mark-Viverito Greets Scott Walker With Not-So-Warm Welcome to New York

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who is facing a possible recall after widespread protests over his perceived anti-union proposals, will be in New York tonight for a fundraiser sponsored by the state Republican Party. Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito released a statement expressing her “grave disappointment” with the GOP for hosting “the poster child for the austerity movement in the United States” in the five boroughs.

“Tonight, New York State Republicans will hold a fundraiser for Scott Walker, the union busting Governor of Wisconsin,” Ms. Mark-Viverito said. “At a time when people across Wisconsin prepare to submit petitions for the recall of Governor Walker, it is disheartening that Republican New Yorkers would gather to support him in an effort to subvert the democratic process.” Read More
