Senator And She Knows It
Earlier, a mysterious website popped up online promising to reveal an election “October Surprise” document drop showing that one of the “presidential candidates isn’t being honest.” The site is nothing but a countdown clock and accompanying Twitter account promising all will be revealed at 5:30 p.m. on October 22. On Twitter, the unknown people behind the site have claimed they’re “not at liberty to say which campaign this affects, just yet” and that the site “has the propensity to turn this election from a nail-biter into the biggest electoral landslide.” They have also posted tantalizing blurry photos of documents to back up their claims. Politicker was able to identify at least two people involved with this secretive “October Surprise,” and we spoke with one of them earlier this afternoon.
Mindy Meyer, a 22-year-old Orthodox Jewish intern in Kings County Supreme Court, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines against Democrat Kevin Parker in Brooklyn’s new 21st Senate District, but her official website is decidedly unorthodox.
The page features a hot pink background and the electropop duo LMFAO’s hit song “Sexy And I Know It” as a soundtrack. On top of the site there is a picture of Ms. Meyer behind a podium encrusted with computerized diamonds and similarly blinged out text spelling out her LMFAO-inspired slogan, “I’m Senator And I Know It.” The fun doesn’t stop there, Ms. Meyer’s page also boasts a section on“The Issues” headlined by all caps, faux leopard print text proclaiming her the “DIVA OF THE DISTRICT.”

Bill Thompson, the former comptroller and close runner up to Mayor Bloomberg in the 2009 mayoral election, launched his website for the 2013 campaign today. BillThompsonForMayor.com includes an “About Bill” page with links to his biography, past accomplishments and a statement about his reasons for running. The site also has links to Mr. Thompson’s social media accounts and pages for supporters to volunteer and donate.
“The 2009 race is in the past, and I’m not running for the past,” Mr. Thompson said in a statement announcing the site. “I’m running for the future of this city – of every New Yorker in every borough – and that’s what I want this race to be about.”
Herman Cain isn’t just the Republican Presidential frontrunner and former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, he’s also a motivational speaker and poet. Archived versions of Mr. Cain’s official website reveal his life lessons and multiple poems bylined to “The Hermanator.”
