"Chicks With Steve Buscemeyes" debuted in April 2011 and instantly became a viral hit. The site features images of attractive female celebrities with Mr. Buscemi's eyes photoshopped over their famous faces.

Last night, Mayor Michael Bloomberg appeared at the NYC Connects 2012 reception in Gracie Mansion wearing glasses designed by eyewear startup Warby Parker, which sells chunky hipster frames online. The brand, understandably excited to have Mr. Bloomberg don their "Waldo" glasses and shared a photo of the event on Facebook. Seeing the picture of Hizzoner in the trendy frames instantly reminded Politicker of the popular internet meme "Hipster Mermaid" and we decided to make a new version of the meme starring Mayor Bloomberg."Hipster Mermaid" involves a photo of Ariel, the protagonist from Disney's 1989 cartoon classic The Little Mermaid with a pair of hipster glasses superimposed on her face and captions featuring too-cool-for-school phrases that one might hear on the streets of northern Brooklyn or Portland.

Our take on the meme pairs the image of Mayor Bloomberg rocking his Warby Parker frames with captions mixing hipsterisms and some of his favorite initiatives. Hey Girl.

A plane mocking Paul Ryan, with a pro-choice variation of the "Paul Ryan Gosling" meme flew overheard as Mitt Romney's running mate spoke at an event in Lakewood, Colorado this afternoon.

"HEY GIRL. CHOOSE ME LOSE CHOICE- P RYAN," a banner trailing behind the plane said. 

The quote toted by the plane is clearly based on "Paul Ryan Gosling," an internet meme that pokes fun at Mr. Ryan using an earlier meme that features pictures of actor Ryan Gosling along with quotes a perfect man might say preceded with the phrase “Hey Girl."

Once Mr. Ryan was selected as Mr. Romney's running mate, internet users began making a mashup of the vice presidential candidate and the Ryan Gosling meme with "Hey Girl" quotes spoofing Mr. Ryan's conservative positions. A @PaulRyanGosling Twitter account launched Saturday, the same day Mr. Ryan was announced as the number two man on the GOP ticket. @PaulRyanGosling has gone on to earn over thirty thousand followers.

"Hey girl, you don't need access to healthcare, my warm, soft kisses will make you well," reads one typical @PaulRyanGosling tweet.

This isn't the first time the Ryan Gosling meme has made it onto the campaign trail. Back in December, a former Democratic campaign operative named Nancy Leeds created a version of the meme featuring Mr. Gosling as a campaign staffer.

Some anonymous internet artisan wants to make a meme out of Mitt Romney's testicles. A political operative forwarded us a page on the blog platform Tumblr entitled "Romney's Balls" based on a quote in a profile of Mr. Romney's "most trusted advisor", Eric Fehrnstrom written by Jason Zengerle in this month's GQ.

"The best political operatives are the ones who provide their clients with a tangible quality the candidate himself lacks. If Karl Rove was Bush's brain, then Fehrnstrom is Romney's balls," Mr. Zengerle wrote.

Inspired by that quote, the creator of "Romney's Balls" has posted several pictures of Mr. Romney with photos of Mr. Fehrnstrom's head standing in for his family jewels.

Mr. Fehrnstrom, a native of Boston, got his start with Team Romney by working on Mr. Romney's successful 2002 gubernatorial campaign. He went on to serve as communications director for Mr. Romney during his four years in the Massachusetts State House and as Mr. Romney's "senior traveling aide" during the 2008 presidential campaign. After working with Mr. Romney, Mr. Fehrnstrom started a political consulting firm, the Shawmut Group, that was instrumental in Republican Senator Scott Brown's surprising 2010 victory in the special election to replace the late Democratic legend Ted Kennedy.

On his way to achieving A-List Hollywood heartthrob status this year, actor Ryan Gosling became an internet meme. Mr. Gosling has a slew of sites devoted to pictures of the actor accompanied by quotes that begin with the phrase "Hey Girl" and depict Mr. Gosling as your ideal boyfriend. "Hey girl, can we just sit and watch the sunset together?" asks one exemplary posting.

Now. Mr. Gosling is the subject of a site that takes this meme to the campaign trail and packs it with backroom terminology and insidery references to voter outreach techniques. "Hey girl, you must be a predictive support model, because my numbers fit perfect against your curves," reads a typical entry on the Campaign Sick blog.

"Campaign Staff Ryan Gosling" is the brainchild of Nancy Leeds, a former Democratic campaign operative and grad student at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs who started posting the pictures on her politics blog, Campaign Sick, about ten days ago. Since then, Ms. Leeds says she's received about 20,000 visitors and submissions from campaign staffers in "pretty much" every state.

"I am getting a lot of emails. It's really fun to get all this communication from campaign operatives that I don't know personally," Ms. Leeds told The Politicker.

After finishing college in 2006, Ms. Leeds spent four years working on political campaigns prior to entering grad school last year. Ms. Leeds worked for the Colorado Democratic Party, Councilman Brad Lander and David Yassky in his failed 2009 bid to become comptroller.

Ms. Leeds said the inspiration for "Campaign Staff Ryan Gosling" came after she saw friends posting academic variations of the meme on Facebook.

"My friends in law school and my friends in med school were sending me theirs and I thought so much innuendo around campaigns

Pictures on Ms. Leeds' site show Mr. Gosling working in a variety of campaign roles.

"Sometimes he's a field operator, sometimes he works in finance, but mostly he does field work," said Ms. Leeds.

Because of this focus on field work, Ms. Leeds said most of her audience are Democratic staffers.

"I've gotten some, maybe tangential interest from Republicans," Ms. Leeds said. "We tend to run campaigns differently. Democrats are a lot more field heavy and most of the jokes are about community organizing. That's mostly a Democrat thing."
