President Barack Obama's re-election campaign released a new ad today that they described as "the first in a series of television advertisements that highlight President Obama’s commitment to issues important to women and their families." The ad begins by touting President Obama's background as "the son of a single mom" and "proud father of two daughters" before noting that "the first law he signed was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act."

Narration in the ad says President Obama passed the Lily Ledbetter law out of a desire to increase "fairness for women" and strengthen the middle class.

President Obama knows that women being paid 77 cents on the dollar for doing the same work as men isn’t just unfair, it hurts families. So, the first law he signed was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help ensure that women are paid the same as men for doing the exact same work," the narrator says. "Because President Obama knows that fairness for women means a stronger middle class for America."

The ad, which is entitled "First Law" will air in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia. Watch it below.
