Getting the Gang Back Together
Mayor Bill de Blasio this morning announced the appointment of his final deputy mayor.
Richard Buery, who currently serves as president of The Children’s Aid Society, will serve as the new Deputy Mayor for Strategic Policy Initiates–a newly-created position.
Most of Anthony Weiner’s former staffers are working for his rivals in this year’s mayoral race–or are settled in jobs outside of campaign politics–but at least one appears to have just returned to the fold.
Amit Bagga, who worked as Mr. Weiner’s executive director at the height of his infamous Twitter scandal two years ago, is going back to work for the former congressman once again. Indeed, Mr. Bagga has already disclosed this information on his LinkedIn profile, where his new title is listed as “Senior Advisor, Policy and Communications at Weiner for Mayor.”
After weeks of hemming and hawing, it looks like ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner is finally ready to put his skates on and jump back onto the proverbial ice.
An unnamed source told the New York Post that Mr. Weiner is “definitely” running for mayor, and expects him to announce his bid sometime in the next 10 days–likely before Memorial Day, which just so happens to be the second anniversary of the fateful tweet that sent his career into free-fall.
