The news that former presidential candidate Herman Cain joined Fox News as a contributor last month got some negative reviews from media pundits and one Breitbart.com writer believes the criticism of Mr. Cain is racist and comparable to the violence inflicted on African-American protesters during the Civil Rights movement. In an article that appeared Friday on "Big Journalism," the media section of the conservative web network started by the late Andrew Breitbart, writer John Nolte compared members of the "media establishment" who have criticized Mr. Cain to infamous Alabama lawman Eugene "Bull" Connor, who notoriously ordered fire hoses and police dogs to be used against anti-Jim Crow protesters.

"No one is claiming Herman Cain is perfect, but there is no question he is currently being singled out as the sexualized clownish idiot based solely on the color of his skin. This is what the left and elite media always do to those who 'don't know their place,'" Mr. Nolte wrote. "In the segregated South, racist whites (almost all of them Democrats) used the exact same tactics to keep blacks from obtaining political power. The only difference is that today "Bull" Connor (another Democrat) is the media establishment, the dogs are the likes of Chuck Todd, Joe Scarborough, and Howard Kurtz, and the fire hose is The Narrative."

To hammer Mr. Nolte's point home, an accompanying photo showed a dramatic, vintage image of African-Americans being battered with a high-pressure hose.

Mr. Nolte based his argument on several reports that referenced the series of sex scandals that ultimately derailed Mr. Cain and a Baltimore Sun article that described Mr. Cain as lacking "mental dexterity and nimbleness." He also highlighted a Tweet from comedian and television host Bill Maher mocking the scandals by joking that Mr. Cain, "likes working with Fox team, particularly some of them fine-ass white women they got there." According to Mr. Nolte, this reception was clear indication of a pattern where "the left and the media" attempt to engage in a campaign of "othering" Mr. Cain by questioning his intelligence or characterizing him as "an over-sexualized black predator." Mr. Nolte contrasts this with the treatment of scandal-scarred liberal pundits including ex-CNN and Current TV host Eliot Spitzer, who resigned as governor in New York due to a prostitution flap.

"This is the same media that have embraced a number of controversial figures tainted by scandal," wrote Mr. Nolte.

Of course, when Mr. Spitzer landed his media jobs, there was no shortage of media coverage that focused on and even mocked his scandalous past.

Mr. Cain certainly has taken some hits in the media media, but he most certainly hasn't faced any violence. Politicker reached out to Mr. Nolte and Breitbart.com Editor-in-Chief Joel Pollak to see whether they thought comparing the treatment of Mr. Cain to Jim Crow atrocities could be seen as trivializing the violence of that era. As of this writing, we have yet to receive a response.

Former Republican presidential candidate blasted the New York Times on the website of his online TV network today in a column that claimed the paper put on "a white sheet and hood" by publishing an editorial that was critical of black Republicans on Wednesday. The Times article, which was written by University of Pennsylvania political science professor Adolph Reed Jr., was entitled "The Puzzle of Black Republicans" and argued "modern black Republicans have been more tokens than signs of progress."

"It’s a shame the New York Times is such a racist newspaper," Mr. Cain wrote in his response.

Mr. Reed's editorial labeled conservative praise for Tim Scott's appointment as the first African-American Senator for the South since the Reconstruction era as "cheerleading over racial symbolism" that "plays to the Republicans’ desperate need to woo (or at least appear to woo) minority voters." Despite this desire to court the black vote, Mr. Reed said "modern-day Republicans have deployed blacks to undermine black interests" by weakening the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Commission on Civil Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission with African-American officials.

In his response, which was entitled "The New York Times is a Racist Newspaper," Mr. Cain criticized Mr. Reed's characterization of "black interests."

"To hear Professor Reed tell it, blacks are a monolithic group of people whose best interests are served when they can be recipients of redistributionist policies at the hands of big government," Mr. Cain wrote. "Let me simplify that for you: He thinks black people need welfare, and can’t make it under the kinds of free-market policies advocated by the likes of Samuel Pierce, Clarence Pendleton, Clarence Thomas and Tim Scott. And Herman Cain."

Mr. Cain, who is African-American, accused Mr. Reed, who is also African-American, of suffering from self-hatred.

"Since Professor Reed is also a black man, I wish him well in dealing with his obvious self-loathing," wrote Mr. Cain. "But he might learn a lot if he spent a little time moving in the circles I move in. He would meet lots of highly accomplished black men and women who have pursued their dreams in the capitalist system and have done exceedingly well. They vote Republican because they understand that free-market policies open up this same kind of opportunity for others."

Mr. Cain closed out his column by blasting the Times for publishing the article, which he described as "denigrating blacks."

"Any newspaper that would publish a piece denigrating blacks as needing the benevolence of big government in order to serve their interests is obviously racist and deserves widespread censure for making such an insensitive and racially biased editorial decision," Mr. Cain wrote. "It’s a shame the New York Times is such a racist newspaper."

Hermain Cain (Photo: Getty)

Pizza magnate, former GOP presidential candidate and poet Herman Cain sent avery special email to his supporters explaining how excellent it is to be rich." The missive was prompted by President Barack Obama's now infamous "you didn't build that" line, which has become a favorite target of conservatives. Mr. Cain argued the remark and the Obama campaign's attacks on Mr. Romney's tax returns and evolving story of his exit from Bain Capital as proof the president has a "disdain for the rich."

"He doesn’t like you having all that money (unless you contribute it to his campaign), and he really doesn’t like you taking credit for having earned it," wrote Mr. Cain.

As far as Mr. Cain is concerned, that argument neglects just how very awesome it is to have a lot of cash.

"What a load of crap. To listen to these people, you’d think being rich was the worst thing anyone could do," Mr. Cain wrote. "Well I’ve got news for them: Being rich is cool."

Rather than attacking the rich, Mr. Cain thinks we should study the wealthy and heir moneymaking ways.

"When someone has become rich, others should endeavor to learn as much as they can about how he or she did it, instead of resenting it and dismissing it as merely lucking out because of all the help the government provided," wrote Mr. Cain.

Mr. Cain urged President Obama to "study" the work done at Bain Capital instead of attacking it.

"The coolest thing about rich people is that, in order to get rich, you have to make your skill and your capital work for other people. Instead of ripping Bain Capital for its success, the Obama Administration and the media should study what Bain did and how it did it," he wrote. "Bain created thousands of jobs – many more on a net basis than it eliminated via strategic layoffs – because it made smart business decisions and built successful enterprises. I’ll take that any day over what Obama does, which is to flush money down the toilet in the form of stimulus that doesn’t stimulate, 'green energy' investments that lead straight to bankruptcy and tax and regulatory policies that stifle capital formation and entrepreneurial innovation."

Because of all this, Mr. Cain is cool with Mr. Romney.

"Mitt Romney got rich because he is smart and he works hard," wrote Mr. Cain. "That makes him pretty darn cool in my book"

Read Mr. Cain's entire email, which was entitled "Rich is Cool," below:

Rich is Cool By Herman CainIf the polls are any indication, it hasn’t worked, but the Obama campaign spent big money over the past month attacking Mitt Romney for what they apparently believe is the worst sin imaginable: He is rich. And as we know now (not that it was a big surprise), President Obama’s disdain for those who have earned substantial wealth runs deep. He doesn’t like you having all that money (unless you contribute it to his campaign), and he really doesn’t like you taking credit for having earned it. That’s why he said the following:

“Look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”

As far as Obama is concerned, anyone who is successful got that way because of the system, by which he means the government. Democrats sometimes refer to the rich as “the winners in life’s lottery,” which is to say they merely got lucky in a game of chance – and that’s why they need to fork over so much of their wealth in taxes, so Democrats can “spread the wealth around” to all those other smart, hardworking people, who just didn’t happen to win life’s lottery.

What a load of crap. To listen to these people, you’d think being rich was the worst thing anyone could do.

Well I’ve got news for them: Being rich is cool. Not only that, but when someone has become rich, others should endeavor to learn as much as they can about how he or she did it, instead of resenting it and dismissing it as merely lucking out because of all the help the government provided.

The best example I can give you is my dad. He started his adult life in the 1940 with nothing but the clothes on his back. At one point he worked three jobs at the same time. I suppose wealth is relative to everyone’s situation, but my dad had a goal of getting rich as he defined it – and he achieved his goal.

Did the government deserve any credit for his success? When he walked off that small dirt farm in Tennessee, the road wasn’t even paved. I’m not saying there were no government functions that worked well and benefited him. Of course there were. But they were the same ones that benefited everybody else. My dad achieved his particular goals because of his particular dedication, his good plan and his hard work. And yes, he was perfectly within his rights to be proud of himself for being so smart and working so hard.

And let’s be honest: It was true then, and it’s even truer today, that when you get rich you largely do it in spite of the government – its rules, its regulations, its confiscatory tax policies . . . and now the tendency of certain leaders to assail you for your success.

The coolest thing about rich people is that, in order to get rich, you have to make your skill and your capital work for other people. Instead of ripping Bain Capital for its success, the Obama Administration and the media should study what Bain did and how it did it. Bain created thousands of jobs – many more on a net basis than it eliminated via strategic layoffs – because it made smart business decisions and built successful enterprises.

I’ll take that any day over what Obama does, which is to flush money down the toilet in the form of stimulus that doesn’t stimulate, “green energy” investments that lead straight to bankruptcy and tax and regulatory policies that stifle capital formation and entrepreneurial innovation.

Mitt Romney got rich because he is smart and he works hard. That makes him pretty darn cool in my book. Those of you who resent the rich, get over it and study how they did it. Along the way, you’ll discover that the rich not only pay most of the taxes, but in all likelihood they pay your paycheck too.

And you’d better study them while you can, because there’s no telling how many of them will be left once Obama gets finished with them."

When Herman Cain walked in a few moments after the press conference ended, and after spending another few long moments fiddling with the suite’s air conditioner—“Too much blowing air gives me a cold, my sinuses and stuff”—he immediately turned to his own decision to drop out of the race last December.

“In my case, all of the spinning and respinning of those false accusations was hurting my family,” he said, referring to stories late last year that two women at the National Restaurant Association accused him of sexual harassment during his tenure there. Two other women also came forward with complaints about Mr. Cain’s behavior and now, five months later, the allegations clearly still rankle.

“The major, mainstream media outlets did a terrible job of being fair, relative to false accusations. What part of ‘false accusations’ don’t they understand!” he said slamming his hand against the table. “Because some of the mainstream media outlets started to present the allegations as if they were true and that totally Was. Not. Fair.

“And I don’t buy this crap about ‘Well, that goes with the territory if you’re running for president.’ I mean, I thought there was such as thing as journalistic ethics.”

The stories originally broke on Politico, which by Mr. Cain’s count wrote 722 stories about the harassment claims in a little over a month.

“Why not go home and do some due diligence and find out about these ‘alleged accusers’? I didn’t see one story about the fact that the third person—the Ginger White—was in the middle of a lawsuit with a business partner. Why? Because she lied. Where was the investigative reporting on that?”

Mr. Cain proceeded to walk The Transom through the allegations that were adjudicated by the restaurant association, saying that even though the accusers received a payout, “it wasn’t a settlement. It was a severance.”

“Where was the media in getting that terminology right?” he continued. “They keep talking about settlement, settlement, settlement! I’m not mad at you, I just get pissed off at the mischaracterization of this. It was a severance payout.”

Until the accusations broke, Mr. Cain sincerely believed that he was going to be next president of the United States.

“I was in my office and my assistant, Lisa-Lisa …”

Here he digressed, to clarify his unusual workplace nickname policy: “I have a lot of people on my staff who have double names, because I had too many Lisas. So, the first person that I hired, she’s Lisa. The second Lisa is Lisa-Lisa. I got a Chris, and I got a Chris-Chris. I don’t have a Kathy-Kathy yet, because I only have one Kathy.”

Mr. Cain’s press secretary, Kathy Hoekstra, sitting nearby, piped up at this point, “And you never will!” which allowed Mr. Cain to pick up the thread.

“And so Lisa-Lisa says, ‘Have you seen this?’ It was a new Zogby poll—which is one of the more reputable national polls—and I was at the top of poll, of all the presidential candidates. I literally had to go into my office and sit down and pray. This was ‘We no longer running to shake things up.’ This was ‘You: come down to the front row.’”

All that ended though when the allegations surfaced, and Mr. Cain was forced to give up his seat in the front row. He says that he thinks now most voters have come down on his version of events, but he doesn’t sound much like somebody interested in running again.

“It was a lot of fun, until they started the character assassination. It was great. I loved it. I loved the debates. I loved the campaign, and I loved the people.

“But what I didn’t like was the unfairness of the criticisms because of the false accusations. False accusations,” he continued. “Make sure you put the word ‘false’ in front of it whenever you mention it, because they were.”

WASHINGTON -- Herman Cain is exporting his "9-9-9 Plan" to the Land of the Rising Sun, but the Japanese version of Mr. Cain's tax plan won't be based on the number nine.

"It's going to be 7-7-7 in Japan, because it's revenue neutral," Mr. Cain's chief of staff, Mark Block, told The Politicker yesterday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

Mr. Cain met with a group of Japanese businessmen at CPAC yesterday to work out the details for his journey to Japan. He will officially announce the Asian incarnation of "9-9-9" in a column on his website next Monday trumpeting the Japanese Tea Party's support for the plan. The Japanese Tea Party movement has grown in recent months as a response rising taxes in that country.

After he dropped out of the presidential race in December, Mr. Cain launched the "Cain Connections" initiative to promote a series of proposals he dubbed the "Cain Solutions Revolution."
WASHINGTON -- Herman Cain, erstwhile Republican frontrunner, former Godfather's Pizza CEO and godfather of the "9-9-9 Plan," stuck to his numerical schtick in his speech at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference today. He began by reciting a series of dates from the timeline of the Revolutionary War to introduce the idea that "we need another revolution in this country" to combat myriad crises facing the country; "an economic crisis," an "energy crisis," an "illegal immigration crisis," a "foggy foreign policy crisis," a "moral crisis" and "the biggest crisis we have" a "severe deficiency of leadership crisis."

"We must outsmart the liberals. We must outsmart the stupid people that are trying to ruin America," Mr. Cain said. "We outnumber the stupid people. Trust me, I counted them."

"There were two reasons I dropped out of the race; gutter politics and, number two, I chose to put family first," Mr. Cain said.

"Some of you all may recall that I was a mathematics major in college I can count," Mr. Cain said. "The real unemployment rate exceeds fifteen percent. That's the real number. Stay informed, know the facts."

Since dropping out of the presidential race, Mr. Cain has focused on his "Cain Connections" initiative, which mainly involves him traveling the country promoting the "9-9-9 Plan" and other "Cain's Solutions" on a bus festooned with nines. Mr. Cain encouraged the CPAC audience to "adopt" the "9-9-9 Plan" and join his "Cain's Solutions Revolution."

Mr. Cain also announced he was endorsing a political candidate who had adopted his plan, "my friend Joe 'The Plumber,'" who's running for Congress in his home state of Ohio.

As he finished his speech, Mr. Cain told one of his favorite tales--the story of the birth of his granddaughter.

"She was born in the year 1-9-9-9," he said.

Herman Cain was knocked out of the presidential race after a series of sex scandals, but he's not going quietly. As the other candidates duke it out in Iowa today, Mr. Cain sent an email to supporters promising big plans ahead. "I will soon be announcing a major new initiative. This is a crusade so critical to the long term health of our American economy that we simply must prevail," Mr. Cain wrote.

Mr. Cain said his announcement will come during Wednesday night's episode of "The Sean Hannity Show" on Fox News.

"I know many of you were disappointed when I chose to suspend my presidential campaign. I was disappointed, too. But make no mistake, the mission remains even if I am not seeking the position," Mr. Cain wrote. "We will work to achieve our original objectives, which is to take back this country, jump-start the economy, and truly help our nation become one that is governed of the people, by the people, and for the people."

Mr. Cain has previously hinted at his desire to remain in the spotlight. Last month, Mr. Cain expressed an interest in a cable news career. He also launched a website called "The Cain Solutions" where he promised to debut his second act.

"The Cain Solutions" contains few clues about what Mr. Cain has in mind, but it seems like it might involve peanut butter. The site was registered by Bell Plantation, an agricultural research company that sells a powdered alternative to peanut butter. "The Cain Solutions" features little else beyond a picture of a farmer that is also used on the Bell Plantations homepage. Mr. Cain previously served as chairman of Bell Plantation's advisory board. His email contained a logo identifying it as part of "Cain's Solutions Revolution."

Today, the Daily Beast published a lengthy interview with Mr. Cain's alleged mistress, Ginger White, in which she claims carnal relations with Mr. Cain made her cry and daydream about grocery shopping.

Ms. White came forward last Monday to tell her tale of a 13-year affair with Mr. Cain. After a series of sexual harassment accusations, Ms. White's revelations were the straw that broke camel's back and prompted Mr. Cain to announce the suspension of his presidential bid Saturday. Ms. White's story may have sunk Mr. Cain's White House bid and, adding insult to injury, she is casting doubt about his prowess in between the sheets. In her Daily Beast interview Ms. White described one particularly passion-free encounter.

“One time we were having sex, and I was looking up at the ceiling, thinking about, ‘What am I going to buy at the grocery store tomorrow? What am I going to do with my kids tomorrow?’” Ms. White said.

Ms. White also detailed another instance of sex with Mr. Cain that sounded even less satisfying than the grocery list tryst.

“One time after we had sex, I cried. He said, ‘Maybe we shouldn’t do this for a while.’ So maybe he did have a heart—or half a heart," said Ms. White.

According to Ms. White, Mr. Cain provided her with regular financial help over the years that was her primary motivation for continuing their liaisons.

“He would send me extra cash and things like that,” Ms. White said. “I was appreciative of that. I said thank you, every time. But I think every time he had sex with me, he was getting a lot more than I was getting.”
