Harold Ford Jr. Says Cory Booker Should Not Have ‘Backed Off’ His Bain Comments

Former Tennessee Congressman and Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. said Newark Mayor Cory Booker should have stuck by his comments that the Obama campaign’s attacks on Mitt Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital are “nauseating” in an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning.

“I would not have backed off the comments if I were Mayor Booker. The substance of his comments on Meet the Press, I agree with the core of it,” Mr. Ford said. “I would not have backed them out … private equity’s not a bad thing. Harold Ford Now Supports Same-Sex Marriage [Video]

Harold Ford, the Tennessee congressman who considered running for Senate in New York against Kirsten Gillibrand, announced he supports same-sex marriage, which the Human Rights Campaign applauds as a “change of heart.”

The video comes one week before Governor Cuomo’s self-imposed deadline for passing the bill in Albany, which, advocates note, will require some prior opponents to change their positions, like Ford. Read More
