Bob Turner is trying to keep the conversation going about the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque” attacking David Weprin, the Democrat his challenging in the 9th Congressional District in Brooklyn and Queens, to show “leadership” on the issue.

Park51 Developer: Bob Turner is 'Sad' and 'Pathetic'

Park51 developer Sharif El-Gamal appeared on “Inside City Hall” last night and had some choice words for Bob Turner,  who has made opposition to what he calls “The Ground Zero Mosque” a centerpiece of his campaign.

“The right wing has tried this already and it has failed miserably. New York is better than that. New York is so much better than that,” El-Gamal said. “What is really sad and pathetic is that today a politician is entering the race with misleading ad. We are not building a mosque on Ground Zero. And this is a man who wants to be a leader in a district. That’s pathetic.” Read More

Turner's First Ad Targets Weprin on Mosque [Video]

One day after a Siena poll showed him to be within six points, Republican Bob Turner is out with his first television ad, attacking his Democratic opponent, David Weprin, for supporting the right to build a mosque near Ground Zero.

The 30-second ad — titled “Send A Message” — opens with a static shot of the Twin Towers on fire, then juxtaposes that with the facade of a mosque, followed by the smiling face of President Obama.
