This week, CNN/ORC released a new poll showing 2 percent of voters would vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein over President Barack Obama, Mitt Romney and Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson. Yesterday, Ms. Stein's campaign sent out a press release touting this "remarkable" result.

"People are starting to realize that they have a choice in the upcoming election, and that choice includes a presidential candidate who is not a pawn of Wall Street," Ms. Stein said. "Voters want a Green New Deal for America, and Cheri Honkala and I are offering that."

The poll showed 2 percent of registered voters and just 1 percent of likely voters would vote for Ms. Stein if all four candidates were on the ballot. Ms. Stein ranked last in the poll behind all of the other candidates, including Mr. Johnson, who polled at 4 percent among registered voters and 3 percent with likely voters.

Ms. Stein is a doctor who previously ran as the Green Party's candidate for governor of Massachusetts in 2010 and in 2002 against Mr. Romney. Her running mate, Cheri Honkala, is the national coordinator for the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign. Ms. Stein's press release boasted that she and Ms. Honkala expect "to be on the ballot in 40 states come November, with 85% of Americans seeing their names on the ballot."

In 2010, Ms. Stein got 1.43 percent of the vote in the Massachusetts governor's race. Four years earlier, she was picked by 3.49 percent of Bay State voters. The Green Party's last presidential candidate, Cynthia McKinney received 0.12 percent of the vote in the 2008 election.

Libertarian presidential nominee and former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson released an online commercial today in which he compared America to a watermelon, highlighted a quote about himself from an article he previously described as "just wrong" and encouraged people to "Google: Governor Gary Johnson."

Mr. Johnson's ad begins with a nod to the famous "Your Brain on Drugs" commercial featuring a frying egg standing in for a drug addled brain. The ad starts with a shot of a watermelon on a black screen and a text saying, "This is our America." After a few seconds, the text changes to say "This is what Democrats and Republicans have done to it" as the watermelon explodes.

"Here's a revolutionary idea: Let's stop electing the same problem again and again," the text says as the watermelon is shown coming back together. "We've seen what they can do. We the People can do better."

Following the watermelon demonstration, Mr. Johnson's campaign logo flashes across the screen before a picture of Mr. Johnson's face alongside flattering quotes about his candidacy. Interestingly, one of the quotes appearing in Mr. Johnson's ad is from a National Review's article that anointed him the "best job creator" among the current crop of presidential candidates. Mr. Johnson previously described that article as "just wrong."

"Contrary to the news, I didn't create a single job," Mr. Johnson said of the article last June. "Don't get me wrong. We are proud of this distinction. We had a 11.6 percent job growth that occurred during our two terms in office. But the headlines that accompanied that report—referring to governors, including me, as 'job creators'--were just wrong. The fact is, I can unequivocally say that I did not create a single job while I was governor."

The ad concludes with several campaign slogans flashing across the screen including "Google: Governor Gary Johnson."

In the wake of the Ron Paul's campaign admitting he isn't likely to win the nomination, Mr. Johnson has attempted to court Mr. Paul's supporters. However, it is unlikely Mr. Johnson will be able to earn votes from many of the Paul-ites as he and Mr. Paul have several policy differences and Mr. Paul's campaign has said he won't give Mr. Johnson an endorsement.

The most interesting thing in the debate was the national debut of Governor Gary Johnson of New Mexico, a pro-pot, anti-war libertarian with a record of cutting taxes and spending and creating more jobs than Mitt Romney in Massachusetts or Governor Rick Perry in Texas.

The STONEzone formally endorses Governor Gary Johnson for the Republican nomination for president in this very posting.
It is unclear if Stone will end up doing any work for Gov. Johnson--he has been known to volunteer in quiet ways on behalf of candidates he supports.
