Rev. Erick Salgado has a dream.

That dream is to be included in Quinnipiac University polls of the mayor’s race, like his fellow, better-known, Democratic candidates.

To make his point known, Mr. Salgado held a press conference on the City Hall steps this morning and accused the polling firm, as well as debate organizers and the media, of discriminating against his campaign based on his socioeconomic status and his ethnicity.

Candidates Weigh in on Judge’s Ruling Reining in Stop-and-Frisk

Critics of the NYPD’s controversial stop-and-frisk practice, including many of the candidates vying to succeed Mayor Michael Bloomberg, applauded a judge’s ruling this morning declaring the city’s current use of the tactic unconstitutional.

In a round of strongly worded statements, the Democratic hopefuls repeatedly said the ruling reaffirmed what they already knew: police had overstepped their boundaries by stopping hundreds of thousands of young men, overwhelmingly young black and Latino, on insufficient grounds.

During the discussion of gay marriage at the Republican presidential debate tonight, Newt Gingrich interjected to make the point that religious Christians face far more discrimination in this country than gays and other groups. He also accused the media of ignoring “anti-Christian bigotry.”
