Amalia told reporters her "romance" with Pope Francis, who was then known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, failed because her parents opposed the relationship. She also said she regrets he was unable to officiate at her wedding to her eventual husband.

Prior to being elected pope, Francis served as Archbishop of Buenos Aires. He will be the first Jesuit pope and entered the religious order nearly ten years after his alleged relationship with "Amalia."

Joe Biden has spent the past few days hitting the campaign trail for President Barack Obama and, as usual, his stops have been filled with many memorable moments and quotes. Today, Mr. Biden was in Ohio where he visited a fire department in Parma Heights along with his daughter, Ashley, and former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. Though the pool reporter, Politico's Donovan Slack, said he "had a hard time hearing many of the exchanges" Mr. Biden had with the people who came out to meet him, Ms. Slack managed to eavesdrop on the vice president giving a little dating advice to a fireman and his pre-teen daughter. 

According to the pool report, Jerry Miluk was one of "about a dozen firefighters" who came out to meet Mr. Biden. Mr. Miluk was accompanied by his son and daughter, who Ms. Slack described as "a boy of about 8 or 9 and a pre-teen girl of about 11 or 12." After working the rope line, Mr. Biden apparently "threw his arm around" the children and called Mr. Miluk over to chat.

"I hope you've got a big fence around your house," Mr. Biden said while smiling at the young girl. He then addressed the young girl directly saying, "No serious dates until you're 30."

After dispensing with his dating advice, Mr. Biden had one more interesting exchange before he asked the crowd to vote for President Obama. Mr. Biden was greeted by a woman who said she serves on the local council. Upon hearing this, Mr. Biden explained to her why he ran for Senate instead of pursuing a career in local politics.

"I ran for the Senate because the council was just too hard a job," Mr. Biden said. "They know where you live."

Assemblywoman Grace Meng is running in the crowded race for the seat in Queens' 6th congressional district and it doesn't seem like her busy political schedule is leaving her with any room for romance. Today was Ms. Meng's wedding anniversary with her husband and she invited her Facebook friends to decide how they would mark the occasion, going door-to-door or to a subway stop to meet potential voters.

"Happy anniversary to my loving husband," Ms. Meng wrote in a post on her Facebook page. "Door-knocking or subway stop-you get to decide how we celebrate. :)"

Hopefully, Ms. Meng's husband understands her need to stay on the campaign trail. There are just over two weeks to go until the Democratic primary on June 26 and Ms. Meng is in a heated battle with her main opponent, Rory Lancman, who has accused her and the Queens Democratic Party, which gave her its endorsement, of engaging in assorted nefarious misdeeds to bolster her campaign.

President Obama at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

A new biography of President Barack Obama by Dave Maraniss reveals the "New York girlfriend" described in the president's 1995 memoir, Dreams of My Father, was actually a "compression" combining stories from several women he dated over the years.

"During an interview in the Oval Office, Obama acknowledged that, while Genevieve was his New York girlfriend, the description in his memoir was a “compression” of girlfriends, including one who followed Genevieve [Cook] when he lived in Chicago," Mr. Maraniss wrote.

This revelation quickly became the latest mini-scandal of the presidential campaign with Matt Drudge, the internet's de facto front page, quickly declaring it evidence of the president "fabricating" portions of his life story. However, over at Slate, Dave Weigel points out President Obama never claimed the characters in his memoir weren't based on individuals.

Dreams of My Father began with a disclaimer that said, "For the sake of compression, some of the characters that appear are composites of people I’ve known." For once, it seems the president being candid about dating multiple women is the end of a campaign scandal rather than the start of one.
