Outraged Officials Demand New York Post Apologize for Coverage of Slain Businessman

The New York Post sparked outrage today with a controversial front page featuring a photo of Menachem Stark–a Williamsburg businessman whose smoldering body was found in a Long Island dumpster yesterday–with the caption: “Who didn’t want him dead?”

The story, labeling Mr. Sark a “millionaire Hasidic slumlord,” detailed the 39-year-old father of eight’s allegedly shady business practices to argue there could be many potential suspects for his murder. Weiner Spokeswoman Apologizes for ‘Slutbag’ Tirade Against Ex-Intern

Anthony Weiner’s spokeswoman, Barbara Morgan, issued an apology tonight after a profanity-laced interview with Talking Points Memo, in which she described a former campaign intern as a fame hungry “bitch” and “slutbag” who “sucked” at her job.

Ms. Morgan said that she believed the conversation, in which she also threatened to sue the young woman, was off the record.

“In a moment of frustration, I used inappropriate language in what I thought was an off the record conversation,” Ms. Morgan said in a statement. “It was wrong and I am very sorry, which is what I said tonight when I called and emailed Olivia to apologize.”

Eliot Spitzer Blames ‘Urges’ for Prostitution Scandal

He just couldn’t help himself.

In a lengthy interview that aired on PBS early Wednesday, disgraced former governor-turned-comptroller-candidate Eliot Spitzer was asked to explain the sex scandal that forced him to resign from office five years ago.

“We have within us all drives, urges which should be tempered, controlled, modulated, held in check that I did not. And I don’t know if I can or should be a whole lot more specific than that. But that is what led to what was obviously a violation of responsibility, oath, loyalty–many terms could apply to it,” he told the Charlie Rose Show‘s guest host Mark Halperin during the interview.
