Gov. Ed Rendell said last week he doubts President-elect Barack Obama will appoint Kathleen McGinty head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
McGinty served as the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection secretary before she resigned earlier this year. She has been one of the few Rendellies mentioned for a prominent position in the Obama administration. The governor has publicly said she did a great job in Pennsylvania and would make a great EPA secretary.
But Rendell told Capitol Ideas in Philadelphia on Tuesday that he "heard" his former DEP secretary has taken herself out of the running for the top spot in the EPA.
"But you'd have to ask her that," Rendell said.
McGinty has also been rumored as a possible 2010 Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
