Collins has the support of 94% of her party’s voters compared to Allen’s 80% support among Democratic voters.
While the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released a poll showing Tom Allen’s deficit down to just 8 points in his campaign to unseat incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins, a Rasmussen poll released just a few moments ago put Collins’ back to a double digit lead.
Rasmussen has Collins ahead of Allen 53% to 43%. Although these numbers are down from a 13-point lead last month and a 15-point lead in August, Collins remains above the “make-or-break” threshold of 50% support.
Also noteworthy from the Rasmussen poll, Collins has the support of 94% of her party’s voters compared to Allen’s 80% support among Democratic voters. Collins also draws the support of 20% of registered Democratic voters, while Allen has only attracted 3% of GOP voters to his camp. Finally, unenrolled voters not registered to either major party are supporting Collins by an impressive 55% to 37%.
Rasmussen gives Collins an 89% change of winning re-election in November. But, as Rasmussen notes, many Republican held seats across the country remain up in the air, including the seats in Alaska, New Hampshire, Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado, Mississippi, Minnesota, North Carolina and Virginia.
