Inhofe outlined a proposed economic plan to the Tahlequah Daily Press that would, among other things, make the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, send some of the appropriated bailout funds to the Federal Reserve and Federal Deposit Insurance Company, and make tax deductions available to homeowners.

A poll conducted for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee shows that Inhofe's lead over Rice has dropped three points, but he still sits on the border of the critical 50 percent approval threshold. He leads Rice by a margin of 50 to 41.

Rice says he would never support privatizing Social Security according to KRMG News. The Oklahoma City Democrat spoke yesterday at state party headquarters during a celebration of the 73rd anniversary of Social Security, the popular program started under Democratic President Franklin Roosevelt. Rice charged that Inhofe had assisted President Bush in policies that have created financial peril for the country.

Rice's campaign announced the hires of two former Hillary Clinton staffers.
Rice said Geri Prado will be his campaign manager. Prado is a former deputy national political and field director for the Clinton presidential campaign, and former New Mexico campaign director for John Kerry. She also served as the Deputy Political Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in the 2006 cycle.
In addition, former Clinton spokesman Phil Singer will serve as a communications consultant.

James Inhofe raised nearly $900,000 in the second quarter of the year leaving him with $2.1 million cash on hand, a significant financial advantage over Andrew Rice, who raised $443,941 during the same period and was left with $748,000 in the bank.
