In 2006, Republican Jim Risch defeated Democrat Larry LaRocco for lieutenant governor 58 percent to 40 percent. As the two pair off again for this open U.S. Senate seat vacated by Republican Larry Craig, we see no reason to expect a different outcome.

In an attempt to explain why he never served in the military, Risch explained that he was unable to enlist due to an ulcer, according to the Associated Press.

The Shoshone News Press is reporting that Risch made a stop in Silver Valley in order to address the economic crisis, as well as energy issues. "We need an aggressive, workable, pragmatic energy policy and it's time we have one," he said.
