With Tuesday's reported totals, donations for the Democratic gubernatorial race topped $5 million, unprecedented in any previous race for the state's highest elected office.

This week the two Democratic candidates for governor bickered over campaign finance issues. First, some Democrats joined Markell in saying that Carney should reiumburse the state Democratic Party for running ads on his behalf. (The party formally endorsed him at their convention in June.)
Carney countered by saying the nearly $900,000 Markell collected in his fund to run for state Treasurer shouldn't be used to attack a fellow Democrat in a primary.
