A Perfect Fit For The GOP

Former (because she quit) Governor Sarah Palin, one of the major players in God's Own Party has an autobiography out. And Michiko Kakutani of the New York Times has a review. In that review we find this telling passage:Elsewhere in this volume, she talks about creationism, saying she “didn’t believe in the theory that human beings — thinking, loving beings — originated from fish that sprouted legs and crawled out of the sea” or from “monkeys who eventually swung down from the trees.”
GOP, a once great American political party, suffers from a nasty religiously-based anti-intellectualism. It's obvious. And sad.

Priorities and Framing

At one of the NetRoots Nation 09 sessions a panelist, speaking about spin, noted that while you always hear from the right that Medicare/Medicaid/SSI is about to run out of money as a reason for why the program needs to be massively reformed/ended, you never hear, say, that the Defense Department is running out of money...

This made me think about that:

A Free Speech Message To Luke Ravenstahl

(H/T to Pittgirl and Marty Levine)

Marty Levine sets the stage:
The city is facing the possibility of civil suits stemming from arrests and other police activity during the G-20. Criminal hearings involving accused protesters -- many of whom are students at Oakland universities -- are still pending.
And what does Mayor Luke do at "Off The Record"? Levine, again:

And according to several witnesses who contacted us after the fact, Ravenstahl used his moment on stage to send a message to ACLU state legal director Vic Walczak, who has sharply criticized the city's handling of G-20 protesters. According to multiple sources, Ravenstahl said something like this: "I heard we're going to face a free-speech lawsuit.

Conservapedia's Terminator Jesus©

Conservapedia's efforts to re-translate the Christian Bible to remove "corruption by liberal bias" and the "emasculation of Christianity" and to explain "the numerous economic parables with their full free-market meaning" reminds me of something that I wrote back in 2004 when I was blogging as Liz Adobe at the Honsberger is a Liar blog:
Terminator Jesus© is in charge of the good old US of A and he's taking names and kicking ass! (You can forget that old pussy, liberal "Sermon on the Mount" Jew because we have the new action-packed Terminator Jesus©.)You can read the whole thing here.

More Bleating From Santorum About Running For Prez

Lil Ricky is at it again.

From LifeSiteNews.com:
Speaking to a room full of prominent US Catholic leaders Friday night, Senator Rick Santorum was challenged to run for the Republican Presidential nominaion. Responding to a room already thick with applause, Santorum revealed that he was indeed "thinking about it" but asked for prayers and detailed his thinking on the matter.

[snip]

"...as a father, I've got to think about whether they are going to have a country to live in … Are they going to be able to practice their faith in a way that's consistent with what the Church teaches."

[snip]

In closing he said that while he was "thinking about it", it is the first time his ambition which is, as he said, "in his DNA" was checked by a resistance saying, "no, I'm not sure.
