Philly mayor to form ethics, campaign finance task force

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter on Wednesday said he would assemble a task force to thoroughly examine the city's ethics and campaign finance laws.

"I campaigned on a promise to clean-up city government and to restore citizens' faith in City Hall--this is one more fulfilmment of that promise," Nutter said in a statement.

The task force will consist of nine members, Nutter said, only one of which will be appointed directly by the mayor. The other appointments will be made by, among others, City Council President Anna Verna, Philadelphia AFL-CIO head Pat Eiding and local government watchdog guru Zack Stalberg.

Nutter asked for appointments to be made within two weeks.
