DC Pundits keep Maine’s two House seats in the D column.
By Wally EdgeStu Rothenberg a well known DC politico has just released his latest predictions on the 2008 US House races. In his opening paragraph Rothenberg states, “Here are our latest House ratings. Any seats not listed are currently considered to be at limited risk for the incumbent party.”
Maine does not appear on any of his lists, which according to Rothenberg, means Maine’s two congressional seats will remain in the hands of the democrats.
The republican cleansing that occured in the 2006 election cycle in New England, leaving Congressman Shays in Connecticut as the lone republican in the House, may improve in 2008. In New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District Rothenberg has put that race, with first term incumbent Carol Shea-Porter (D), in the toss up category.
Of course, this is just one opinion, but it is an important opinion. When it comes to the money chase in Washington, folks in DC pay attention to guys like Rothenberg.

Something funny happened last week: A liberal Democrat from Chicago, running on a ticket with a liberal from Delaware, won the White House by a comfortable margin. And while Barack Obama did actually win three states in the South, his triumph should do away with the notion that a “Southern strategy” is essential to the Democratic Party’s long-term viability at the presidential level.
