Cartoonists remember Tim Russert

Remembering Tim Russert: (Left: Getty Images photo, Right: Caricature by D.Rano)Remembering Tim Russert: (Left: Getty Images photo, Right: Caricature by D.Rano)As you all have probably heard, Tim Russert, NBC's Washington bureau chief and the influential host of its Sunday morning program Meet the Press, died Friday afternoon after collapsing from a heart attack while recording voice-over segments for Sunday's show at NBC's Washington news bureau.

Along with the outpouring of emotion from friends, colleagues and politicians, I wanted to spotlight the thanks and sympathy that editorial cartoonists around the world are putting out to show the importance of Tim Russert.

Here is my cartoon from yesterday, which also appeared in several newspapers throughout the country.

Although I never met him...


I am so sad and shocked he is gone.  Sundays were always the weekend days that I had baby duty, so had to get up with them at the crack of dawn.  Believe me when I say my sons were all weaned on Tim Russert.  Heck, now that they are older (almost all in the double digits) they can give you their opinion of all national political figures, whether you want to hear it or not.  That is due in large part to Mr. Russert and our regular dinner table conversation. So sad he is gone.  I guess they will find out today, I hadn't the heart to tell them yet.
