Headline of the Day: “Bill de Blasio won’t shut up about his family, for good reason.”
Council Speaker Christine Quinn‘s mayoral campaign is now officially taking on rival candidate Bill de Blasio, launching a “Tale of Two de Blasios” Tumblr blog, which showcases some rather unflattering photos of the public advocate and calls him a flip-flopping hypocrite. There’s a video as well.
But Mr. de Blasio isn’t playing around either and the public advocate’s wife, Chirlane McCray, told The New York Times‘s Maureen Dowd that Ms. Quinn, who does not have children, is “not accessible. She’s not the kind of person I feel I can go up to and talk to about issues like taking care of children at a young age and paid sick leave.”
The de Blasio campaign also released a web video of its own, tying Ms. Quinn to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, whom she said she’d be lucky to keep in her administration. The ad opens by declaring, “Speaker Quinn stands with Mayor Bloomberg and Ray Kelly on the use of stop-and-frisk,” and features Mr. Kelly saying African-Americans are “under-stopped.”
The Times rolled out a new interactive feature of the various mayoral candidate, and readers can learn tidbits like Comptroller John Liu’s refusal to name his favorite movie after being previously mocked for enjoying Troy and Ms. Quinn quipping, “I have to admit: I jettisoned the Mets for love.”
The Daily News “exclusively obtained” a porn video featuring Anthony Weiner‘s former sexting pal Sydney Leathers, apparently still enjoy her 15 minutes of fame. “People already thought I made a porno, so it was like, ‘Eh, they think I did, I might as well,’” she explained. “There is sex, but it has some really funny bits too. That’s part of the reason I agreed to do it.”
And City Council candidate Noah Gotbaum has a “Harlem Shake”-themed video featuring his interns:
