Headline of the Day: "De Blasio’s Announcement Is Upstaged by Son’s Hair."

The "Manhattan Madam," otherwise known as Kristin Davis, is moving forward with her mayoral campaign. "In some ways I hope my candidacy is like that of William F. Buckley Jr. who ran for Mayor as the Conservative Party candidate in 1965," she explained. "Buckley knew he wouldn't win but he used the opportunity to push a set of ideas that would eventually take root under President Ronald Reagan."

Capital Tonight reports the existence of a poll testing another politician with a famous sex scandal, Congressman Anthony Weiner, for either a mayoral or comptroller campaign. Mr. Weiner has a lot of campaign money and outer-borough charisma, but either bout could easily be an uphill slog for him. To wit, the New York Post's report on the story was headlined "Weiner probing possibility of political run."

Mayor Michael Bloomberg's "ass" compliment has plenty of historical context, Capital New York pointed out. “An attractive woman would walk into the bullpen and the mayor would say 'nice tits' — he just couldn't help himself,'" a top aide once recalled of his pre-City Hall days, for example. In 1996, Mr. Bloomberg himself once quipped, "I am a single, straight billionaire in Manhattan. It's like a wet dream."

The Post was able to do a deep dive into Council Speaker Christine Quinn's "vampire-like" New York Magazine cover, leading in with, "I vant to have your vote." An former City Hall staffer offered some additional lines. “I wouldn’t describe it as mayoral, there’s a certain Dracula quality,” the unnamed source declared. “It’s always good to have a picture where you look like a bad ass. She looks like she teaches at Hogwarts.”

One of Ms. Quinn's rivals, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, went on Inside City Hall after yesterday's whirlwind tour of the city. "City Hall has to respond to our boroughs the same way it treats Manhattan," Mr. de Blasio argued. "The farther away you get from City Hall, the harder it gets." Errol Louis pointed out Mr. de Blasio actually won Manhattan in his 2009 race, while losing Queens and Staten Island. "I won Manhattan!" Mr. de Blasio responded. "I was very proud to win Manhattan."

Councilman Domenic Recchia dropped out of the Brooklyn Borough President race, seemingly greasing the skids for State Senator Eric Adams' bid. The Daily News reported that Mr. Recchia's interest now lies in a congressional race against GOP Congressman Michael Grimm. Of course, former Rep. Mike McMahon, a Democrat, has expressed his own strong interest in the race, creating potential primary drama should Mr. Recchia push forward.
