At the end of last week, Michael Grimm was endorsed by a pro-pet organization. “He has stood up for the values of kindness and compassion and we urge New York voters to support Grimm,” Sara Amundson, executive director of the Humane Society Legislative Fund, said in a prepared statement. In a more electorally significant--but less adorable--move, Mr. Grimm will be endorsed by the Building and Construction Trades Council at noon today.

On the tip of Manhattan, it's Adriano Espaillat's world, and other political actors just live in it. Mr. Espaillat not only defeated Guillermo Linares last week, his coattails also dragged Gabriela Rosa--who had few other prominent backers--across the finish line for Mr. Linares' old seat too. Now, the State Senate, State Assembly, and City Council representatives for Washington Heights will all be represented by members of the same political club (Northern Manhattan Democrats for Change).

Accordingly, Mr. Espaillat's spokesman Ibrahim Khan, referencing Mark Gjonaj's race as well, told us last night: “We are thrilled by the strong and clear vote of confidence cast for Senator Espaillat and every other candidate he supported. The fact that Senator Espaillat won his race overwhelmingly, and helped Gabriela Rosa and Mark Gjonaj win Assembly seats in the face of stiff opposition, is a testament to his leadership in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.”

If you want to see a 9-year-old rapper from Flatbush dropping verses about sagging pants next to Marty Markowitz, look no further.

A New York Post columnist asked: "Who watches Tom DiNapoli?"

This isn't exactly clear, but Shelly Silver and Vito Lopez seemingly collaborated on some legislative shenanigans.

We're shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here! “Vito Lopez amassed power and loyalty through appointments and cheap housing."

On Saturday morning, Lincoln Restler optimistically predicted that we'll know the outcome of his election by the end of this week. "According to the Board of Elections, the unofficial tally from election night has us down by 136 votes out of the nearly 12,000 total cast," he said in an email to his supporters. "We should be getting official results in the next couple days and we will then be left to count the nearly 1000 paper ballots on Friday, September 21. After that - we should all, finally, know the outcome of the election. " Some are feeling good about Mr. Restler's absentee ballot situation, but is it enough? He'll need to get rival Chris Olechowski's total under 60 or so votes to trigger an automatic recount.

Lew Fidler, an ally of likely county leader Frank Seddio, said Mr. Restler isn't the problem: “I think we should find a way to include Lincoln Restler and his supporters. We could use the dynamism that they bring to the party. That is not something we should be afraid of, it is something we should embrace. You might have noticed we have some Republicans we need to beat, and we could use the help.”

Via Shimon Gifter, Mr. Fidler is willing to sue Michael Bloomberg over his new circumcision policy: "I've sued the mayor three times and I've won three times."
