The county Democratic chairman may be going to other kickoff events too, however.

Headline: "Popcorn in Hand, Mayor Rides Ferry to Staten Island."

Two possible GOP contenders for mayor in 2013, Manhattan Media CEO Tom Allon and Senator Malcolm Smith, are weighing their options as they consider changing their registration from the Democratic Party before the October 12th deadline.

GOP Councilman Eric Ulrich is engaged in one of the most high-profile senate races in the entire state, but try and spot the differences between him and incumbent Senator Joe Addabbo in this interview. It's possible, but it involves squinting. To be fair, the questions were asked by the quirky Juniper Park Civic Association, which once declared that then-congressional candidate David Weprin told its neighborhoods to "DROP DEAD!"

Late last night, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio threw another gauntlet Council Speaker Christine Quinn's way over paid sick day legislation. In response to business-friendly amendments proposed by Councilman Dan Garodnick, Mr. de Blasio declared in a statement, “We’ve fulfilled every single aspect of the democratic process save one: a vote. I urge the Speaker to do right by the democratic process and by the thousands of New Yorkers facing economic hardship. I urge this amended bill be brought to the floor at once.”

On Inside City Hall, former Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said he would "certainly consider" taking his old job back in 2014 and that he has been talking with several of the likely 2013 mayoral candidates. "It certainly is a significant change in lifestyle, once again," he said of the possibility.

We can think of worse things for Senator Marty Golden and Assemblyman Steve Cymbrowitz to be sued over than helping to stop an alleged strip club opposed by a decent segment of the community. More here.

The State Conservative Party posted their interpretation of Senator Roy McDonald declining to seek reelection on the Independence Party line against the Republican who just defeated him in the GOP primary:

Two gone, two to go. State Sen Roy McDonald announced that he will not campaign on the Indep line, and is supporting Repub/Conserv Kathy Marchione to be the Senator from the 43rd District. In his rather lengthy farewell statement, McDonald claimed credit for nearly every law passed during his 4 years in office, but did not mention his vote for gay marriage.
