“This is a reflection of the incredible support Scott Stringer has from thousands of people across the city. The reason: Scott is the only candidate who understands how tough it’s become for middle class New Yorkers to make it in the City, and the only one prepared to do what it takes to turn things around” said Anson Kaye, a senior advisor to the Stringer campaign.
When fundraising numbers were announced last July, Mr. Stringer lagged slightly behind his rival public advocate Bill de Blasio, City Comptroller John Liu and Council Speaker Christine Quinn. Ms. Quinn, for example, has already announced that she has maxed out for the primary.
Still, with today’s announcement Mr. Stringer now has raised a total of $3.27 million for a mayoral run and boasts of $2.96 million in cash on hand. He is also expected to bring in $1.4 million under the city’s campaign finance matching program.
Mr. Stringer also announced that the campaign has received contributions from over 2,800 individuals.
His campaign also notes that since the start of the January 2010 fundraising cycle, Stringer has raised $2.3 million, which is more than all other potential candidates for mayor.
