The special election to replace corrupt State Senator Carl Kruger is getting underway, and GOP candidate David Storobin is ramping up his advertising efforts. Sheepshead Bites notes “[c]ampaign posters for Republican underdog David Storobin’s State Senate campaign have popped up all over the neighborhood in the past week.
Additionally, a reader who lives relatively far outside of the special election district noted that she was seeing advertisements for Mr. Storobin’s Facebook page.
The media moves represent Mr. Storobin looking to lock down as much of the vote as possible in these early stage of the March 20th special election. The campaign posters themselves, with “Business Owner … Shares Your Values” featured as the leading text, also reveal the candidate’s campaign messaging will emphasize a small business angle.
The only reported advertising so far on behalf of the Democratic candidate, Councilman Lew Fidler, was a newspaper ad purchased before Mr. Kruger pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges and resigned in disgrace.
Update: Councilman Fidler’s office sends over a statement:
“$60,000 of Mr. Storobin’s family money might buy him some pretty posters, but it won’t hide the fact that he is completely out of touch with the community. Councilman Fidler’s record speaks for itself. Mr. Storobin can corner the market on buying pretty posters, but he won’t buy this Senate seat.”

Go STOROBIN!
Kalman, how do you make a leap that being on the School Choice Party
line is making David “uncomfortable with Albany Republicans”? The only
ones thoroughout the country that are known for maniuplating ballots in
every major metro area is your party, not the Republicans or
Conservatives, but the Democrat. so who is manipulating here? next,
manufactured ballot line, sorry Kalman, but all lines are manufactured.
thats how lines are created, similar to the house you live in and the
car you drive. this party, like all othera, is registered at the state
level as a real party. Small and one issue only, but a REAL party
nontheless. If Brooklyn voters knew that Fidler stood with him, why was
his opening press conference in Manhattan, is it because he feels more
comfortable with the Democrat Progressives that control that island? not
the consservative districts that make up his SENTORIAL district? While
you are wondering who David Storoibin is, he is out telling people that
your progressive, socialist, anti family, anti school choice, anti
small business, anti lowering taxes, anti everything moral and decent
that his senatorial district holds dear is wrong for our communities and
that his ideals are our ideals. he is for school choice, your boss is
beholden to his bosses, the uft, and will never back school choice and
repealing the blaine act. he has never met a tax he didnt like.
as
for scrubbing enrollment, how come Lew didnt get the backing of the
Workers Family Party, you know the ones who are socialist, anti
busiiness, and occupy wall street defenders! talk about scrubbing!!
Kalman, how much money is Lew getting from the LGBT and abortion pushing communities? How much help is he getting from his master Randi Weingarten and the AFT/UFT? Talk about out of touch with his community! Im not sure if anyone told you, but parts of williamsburg, west village, east village, soho, and dumbo are not int he 27th district.
