Mitt Romney wants you to know that he’ll always be by your side, America. He’ll never do you wrong or cheat on his wife like some of those other presidential candidates. Mr. Romney let the nation know all of this in a new 30 second campaign commercial that premiered today. ”I think I’m a man of steadiness and constancy. I don’t think you’re going to find somebody who has more of those attributes than I do,” Mr. Romney says in the ad.
Mr. Romney’s commercial features footage of him speaking during the CNBC Republican debate last month alternating with Romney family home movies.
“I’ve been married to the same women for 25–excuse me, I’ll get in trouble–for 42 years, I’ve been in the same church my entire life, I worked at one company, Bain for 25 years,” says Mr. Romney. “If I’m President of the United States, I will be true to my family, to my faith and to our country, and I will never apologize for the United States of America.”
With his promise of steadfastness, Mr. Romney is simultaneously manages to refute his widespread reputation as a flip flopper and take a sly dig at his main rival, Newt Gingrich, who has gone through three marriages, infidelity and a conversion to Catholicism. After a recent surge, Mr. Gingrich has come from behind to top Mr. Romney in the polls.
